Reviews from Amazon users which were colected at the time this book was published on the website:

⭐A lot of good work went into this tome. Probably, in fact, way too MUCH work. Nuggets of engineering brilliance are buried in a confusing (and very often illegible) maelstrom of minuscule type* and an unending jumble of illustrations, which seem to have been strewn about the pages by someone eager to demonstrate every trick she learned in art school. The resulting book is exasperating, confusing and all too often impenetrable. There is no centrality of theme, nor a clear sense of progression or order here. SOMEONE needs to (a) fire the graphic designers, who have spent too much time trying to take control of the work and entertain computer gamers, and (b) retain an editor who can winnow down the graphics and text to something less daunting.*Pumping up the text from 8 point to 10 would sure aid comprehension of the detailed material. My vision is 20-10 and I nearly went bling trying to read this extravaganza.Start over, guys.

⭐I encountered Engineers in a discount book store and was surprised at the wonderful combination of interesting information about famous engineering achievements and even more interesting discussions about projects that are rarely discussed for their achievement and importance much less who made them possible. It provided so much knowledge and great pictures that I was sure it would excite anyone who was thinking about becoming and engineer as it would show them familiar things with information about them they had not heard and would show them great achievements from prior centuries of equal interest. Since then, I have bought dozens of copies since to give to engineers in our mentor program with the Eagle Scouts in our area and to give to individuals who were recommended to me by parents trying to find a way to counsel their kids about going into engineering. In every case of the latter, the kids decided to enroll in engineering or changed majors to engineering. A key element of the book is it addressing the international view rather than just an American perspective.

⭐Print is so small, it’s hard to read. This book should be 50 percent larger.

⭐good book. like new one

⭐A great addition to the outstanding DK Visual Encyclopedia books.

⭐I have worked in the field of engineering for over 30 years and this book is a great inspiration. This book will appeal to those with decades of experience as well as younger folks who may be just entering the field or considering engineering as a career. The book is arranged in a nice time line and also groups similar fields into categories such as bridge construction, automotive, aerospace, etc…..I thoroughly enjoyed the history, explanations, background and graphics that accompany each engineers’ biography. You can spend a few minutes learning about a particular individual or spend many hours going through all the bios.A must have book for all engineers and those interested in the history of technology.

⭐I admit, i’m a kid just starting off college doing basic classes and not engineering classes yet, but by looking through this book, i recommend it to anyone interested in engineering, and even history!I saw this book at Barnes & Noble, and it was too expensive, but i got it here for a reasonable price and it arrived in very good shape. Not only is the work of past engineers amazing, but also the times they have been through to do such work, like the Wright Brothers improving the airplane, Tesla and electricity, and etc.

⭐This was a gift to my son, who is a Mechanical Engineer (Aerial Engineer) for Fire and Safety Truck design. A great addition to his library.

⭐I love all of these DK books. They are clear with lots of great pictures but do not talk down to the reader. We have several of these and my son aged 10 reads and rereads them from cover to cover. For a boy who spends a lot of time playing video games he now knows a lot about history and engineering to the point where I am having to inform myself better to be able to answer his questions!

⭐I bought this (latest copy) for my Daughter’s boyfriend who is an undergraduate engineer. The historical lessons of great engineers that I feel is underplayed during our formal education. The DK book format is brilliant and easy to dip in and out of or to work your way through it.A great buy for any engineer!

⭐A really elegant book but not for engineers really as not very technical.More of a history book touching on major engineering events, having said that its still a good book

⭐Excellent product and service

⭐Very interesting for those who know a lot and those who are just starting to become interested in facts. Bought for my father and my younger brother loves the book as well.Very easy to read and you can pick it up and put down.
