Description

Geophysics for Petroleum Engineers focuses on the applications of geophysics in addressing petroleum engineering problems. It explores the complementary features of geophysical techniques in better understanding, characterizing, producing and monitoring reservoirs. This book introduces engineers to geophysical methods so that they can communicate with geophysicist colleagues and appreciate the benefits of their work. These chapters describe fundamentals of geophysical techniques, their physical bases, their applications and limitations, as well as possible pitfalls in their misuse. Case study examples illustrate the integration of geophysical data with various other data types for predicting and describing reservoir rocks and fluid properties. The examples come from all over the world, with several case histories from the fields in the Middle East.Introduces geophysical methods to engineersHelps understanding, characterizing, producing and monitoring of geophysical techniquesUpdates the changing needs of reservoir engineering

User’s Reviews

Reviews from Amazon users which were colected at the time this book was published on the website:

⭐I was somewhat disappointed in this book. About one hundred pages of this 272 page book are on Fundamentals of Geology, Formation Evaluation, and Geostatistics. A book of this kind should presume a certain level of knowledge on the part of the reader so that it can probe the subject of geophysics more deeply. I would have appreciated a glossary of all the acronyms used in discussing the subject. I wish they would have expanded the fundamentals of geophysics a bit more, assuming very little knolwedge on the part of the reader.I applaud the application of geophysics to reservoir charcterization, reservoir monitoring, driiling and unconventional.
