Description
This Second Edition of An Introduction to Atmospheric Radiation has been extensively revised to address the fundamental study and quantitative measurement of the interactions of solar and terrestrial radiation with molecules, aerosols, and cloud particles in planetary atmospheres. It contains 70% new material, much of it stemming from the investigation of the atmospheric greenhouse effects of external radiative perturbations in climate systems, and the development of methodologies for inferring atmospheric and surface parameters by means of remote sensing. Liou’s comprehensive treatment of the fundamentals of atmospheric radiation was developed for students, academics, and researchers in atmospheric sciences, remote sensing, and climate modeling.Balanced treatment of fundamentals and applicationsIncludes over 170 illustrations to complement the concise description of each subjectNumerous examples and hands-on exercises at the end of each chapter
User’s Reviews
Reviews from Amazon users which were colected at the time this book was published on the website:
⭐Understanding the thermal exchange between gases (air) and infrared radiation from subjects is fundamental for the understanding of climate change. The textbook gives valuable information to understand these processes and to avoid popular misunderstandings.
⭐To my disappointed, this copy is quite different from the orignial copy from my aspects. First of all, the paper quality is different, not as smoothy as the original one.Second, because of the bad paper, this copy is much thicker than the original one.Third, the figures in this book are not as clear as the original ones, which can be noticed clearly by comparing with an original edition.I wonder it is a copy one or just because of different printing companies. Anyway, I do not like this edition.I hope Amazon can update this book as soon as possible.
⭐Good book for students with Math or Physics major. also helpful as a reference book for researchers. It may be too intense for students taking GE courses on Atmospheric Radiation. I’m a Atmospheric science researcher, and this book fits my need perfectly.
⭐the book is quite new and easy to follow.
⭐A book which teaches you the basics starting from the sun till the end of longwave and shortwave radiation…how they are computed..and what variations/errors each technique provides.
