⭐Very accessible and clear. Well written and informative – excellent

⭐The common man is not free. His/her freedom is circumscribed by policies and laws enacted by the state. In a capitalist economy the law is skewed in favour of the people close to the levers of power; in a socialist state his freedom is curtailed by the all pervading state and the single party. But everywhere it is the state that stands in the way of the human beings enjoying his rightful freedom to develop himself to their fullest potential. If the human beings are given the right to organise his affairs through self-governance along with his fellow human beings then only the universal policy of rule of men over men (read exploitation) will stop. Anarchism, also known by the name libertarian socialism, (as opposed to authoritarian socialism), adresses this question of removing all fetters for achieving human freedom.The book is distilled from scores of writings on anarchism during the last 150 years, and brings to the readers its beliefs, programmes, achievements, failures and the reason behind its continuing relevance. Its a timely and useful handbook on the subject and contains a gem of an introduction by the redoubtable Noam Chomsky. The only reason I did not give a 5 star rating is because it comes across as too brief with regard to a subject that is only too profound and important. Of course interested readers will find the bibliography quite useful. Read the book if you are concerned about the human condition and his utter helplessness and lack of freedom.
