Description
This book provides an account of the field of synchronized Phasor Measurement technology, its beginning, its technology and its principal applications. It covers wide Area Measurements (WAM) and their applications. The measurements are done using GPS systems and eventually will replace the existing technology. The authors created the field about twenty years ago and most of the installations planned or now in existence around the world are based on their work.
User’s Reviews
Reviews from Amazon users which were colected at the time this book was published on the website:
⭐This Book is really good, It describes Phasor Measurement Units very well, but my interest was about a especific application of PMU that is very small part of the book, but the book is good
⭐I am researching on PMUs and power systems so bought this book (as the authors are considered authorities in the field).I was really disappointed when I found out how poor this book was…I wouldn’t recommend the book to anybody! You are better off reading journal papers!
⭐Great book!
⭐The synchrophasors is a new tool to solve old problems in power systems; the first part of the book make an excellent description of phasors concepts and the methods to estimate it even at off-nominal frequency; also explain the main characteristics of the phasor measurement units (PMU) and its transient response and the evolution in the synchrophasor international standard. In the second part, the book presents the application of synchrophasor to state estimation, control, protection and electromechanical wave propagation. Introduction of synchronized phasor measurement Units (PMU) has greatly improved the observability of power system dynamics and opened up new opportunities to implement more effective special protection functions. For example, phase angles of the electrical quantities constitute the most important network state variables, because these angles are related to the network transient stability margin, line power flows, and voltage security. The Wide Area Systems is currently the most common application of PMUs. The data can also be used for validation of system simulation models constructed in transient stability programs and electromagnetic transient simulation programs.
