⭐I found the writing style obscure. The author never tells you where he is going. You have to read the whole book (it might take you a month) before you have any inkling of what is going on. Further, if the author intended his book to help the reader understand Manin’s famous paper “The theory of commutative formal groups over fields of finite characteristic”, then at least he should have explained how his notations differ from Manin’s. Which of his groups is the same as Manin’s G_{m,n}, for example? Moreover, in my opinion the book is unbalanced. The basics of the theory are well-developed in the first few chapters, but the last 2 chapters are too short. On the other hand, reading this book is really indispensable if you want to master p-divisible groups. So I would recommend that you buy it, but be prepared to spend a few weeks reading it (btw, it might be helpful to read concurrently R.Pink’s notes on finite group schemes which are freely available on the Internet).Oh, I forgot. The notation used in the book is non-standard. What everybody calls G_rr, G_rl, etc, are called here Fim_k, Fiu_k, etc.
