Description
Advanced Dynamics is a broad and detailed description of the analytical tools of dynamics as used in mechanical and aerospace engineering. The strengths and weaknesses of various approaches are discussed, and particular emphasis is placed on learning through problem solving. The book begins with a thorough review of vectorial dynamics and goes on to cover Lagrange’s and Hamilton’s equations as well as less familiar topics such as impulse response, and differential forms and integrability. Techniques are described that provide a considerable improvement in computational efficiency over the standard classical methods, especially when applied to complex dynamical systems. The treatment of numerical analysis includes discussions of numerical stability and constraint stabilization. Many worked examples and homework problems are provided. The book is intended for use on graduate courses on dynamics, and will also appeal to researchers in mechanical and aerospace engineering.

⭐As expected
⭐This book is a great bridge between undergraduate level dynamics and a graduate book in the same subject, like Landaus. The one thing about it is that it could use more examples…and the physics could be better explained in words; not equations. Equations are afterall thoughts put into succinct language
⭐Purchased a hardcore copy but the book looks like its hardly used.
⭐I really enjoyed this book and working the problems in it. It has some truly unique features. To me this book is an attempt by the author to remedy some of the deficiencies in his earlier book Classical Dynamics. There is still no discussion of motion in a central force field or of vibrations but everything else is here. The sections on maintaining holonomic constraints during simulation and the sections on numerical methods are among the better I have seen on those subjects. There is also a rather through treatment of the basic vector mechanics that forms the basis of modern mechanics. Greenwood is not shy about attempting to level the playing field before starting out on the more modern subjects and provides the student with a ready compendium of examples, techniques, and results.
