Description
Book 2 in the thrilling young mystery series from internationally bestsellling author John Grisham
When we last saw Theo Boone, he ensured that justice was served by uncovering evidence that kept a guilty man off of the streets. Hot off this high-profile murder trial, thirteen-year-old Theo is still dispensing legal advice to friends and teachers. But just when it seems as if his life has calmed down and gone back to the status quo, a new legal mystery comes to town, and this time it’s personal.

Reviews from Amazon users, collected at the time the book is getting published on UniedVRG. It can be related to shiping or paper quality instead of the book content:
⭐ Suddenly, April is MISSING! She VANISHED, overnight! She’s thirteen years old, and disfunctional does not begin to describe her family. This night, she was HOME, and she was alone!. Next moprning she was GONE! She was Theo’s VERY GOOD friend. Not his ‘grlfriend’, in the romantic sense, but his FRIEND. And Theo was HER friend, in the same sense. This is actually the SECOND in the series of books about Theodore Boone, Kid Lawyer. It takes us on a midnight ride to a College town where a really bad rock band is playing, loudly, for a Sorority party. How’d we get there? Theo knows! He and Ike (Theo’s Uncle) track her down and GO THERE to rescue her. From whom? READ THE BOOK! There is less in my review than for Kid Lawyer, but I did more explanitory stuff there. This is a real PAGE TURNER, too! The town comes to life and the characters come to life, and the story is believable! They (all four books) are for ’11 – up’ age group. I’m ‘UP’. (78) You will NOT regret the purchase! buy them all at once. They run as a serial, although they will stand alone, and do do vary well.
⭐ Grisham is an old hand at writing well-crafted story lines. He does that now with this debut of a series for teens. However I recommend it for adult readers as well because his well-drawn characters will engage all readers.
⭐ I loved Theodore Boone Kid Lawyer and this is a follow up to that. I was very let down while and after reading this. It’s a re-tell of the first book. Different names, places and crime but same steps were taken. I think, bottom line, that bothered me was the fact that this should have been called and charged as a short story. It took me about 5 hours to read. That’s a short story. Not even enough to get emotionally involved..not like his first one.
⭐ This story is definitely designed for adolescents and is a very good story for that age bracket. For adults it may be a little simplistic, but for adolescents John Grisham has provided a challenge with several built in challenges, as well. For instance, should he call his parents when he decides to leave town in pursuit of the victim’s presumed location? That’s a major dilemma for a 13 year old. Too many things could go wrong. John Grisham teaches the adolescent reader why parents make rules and how to both respect those rules even when it appears they should be bypassed and how to achieve the higher goal, in this case rescuing the person abducted. Kids have a tough time with decisions that flaunt independence rather than obedience, and Mr. Grisham shows respect for both the responsible parents and the responsible adolescent who may sometimes bend the rules but won’t do things that harm anyone, including himself. Good book, great author.
⭐ I have already reviewed the book,The Accused, I love this series well enough to review this one also. Grisham is back better than ever, after having had a slump, in my never-sufficiently humble opinion! (An example of a book from the slump period is Playing for Pizza.) I am amazed that Grisham can bend his huge talent to write good young adult fiction. And I do mean GOOD! As a child, I read the Nancy Drew mysteries. In my aready described opinion, these are so much better! I’ll buy and read every one of these he cares to write. It’s like eating a cookie to read one of these. I read many varied types of books and love many genres, but these are such a delightful break from some of the others! Thanks for making them available!
⭐ Grisham has always been an excellent read.I purchased the Theodore Boone novel not realizing it was geared towards younger readers.I’m 47 years old and a professional in the communications industry. I found the novel refreshing and interesting.Grisham always grabs your attention right away. Once I finished the first novel, I downloaded the next and finally the third novel. I believe I finished them all in a little over a week and look forward to more of young Theo’s adventures.Definitely recommend this series regardless of your age. Youll enjoy them.Dan R.
⭐ Again, the main character is a spoiled 13 year old brat. The story line is unrealistic. The more I read, the more I disliked this boy and the book as well.
⭐ Another really awesome second Theodore Boone book in the series. Full of suspense and mystery that leaves u wanting to know more at eat turn of the page.
⭐ I’ve now read two of the Theodore Boone books. I’ve long been a Grisham fan, and some of his insights into people and the ways they behave have been profound. His writing was always simple and straight-forward. These two books, however, are clunky. The characters are flat, and the writing is clumsy. The basic line of the story is sound; it’s just the execution that fails. There are quite a few writers whose work needs relatively intense editing. Maybe Grisham is one of those, and he lost his long-time editor. Whatever may be going on, it’s sad to see a writer lose his touch.
⭐ I have been a fan of John Grisham’s books since The Runaway Jury, but it didn’t click with me immediately that these books are written for young readers! The shorter chapters should have clued me in, but I was there to be entertained and I was. When I finished reading Theodore Boone, Kid Lawyer I said to my husband, “He has never written a book that didn’t resolve all of its issues, but that’s what he’s done here. Now I have to read the next one!”So, this mother of 4 and grandmother of 12 was thoroughly entertained with both of the Boone books and I plan to pass them on to the grandchildren. I’m not sure their parents are ready for them yet!
