⭐この本は認知 (心理学) と意味論の統合を模索した本である。今は違うが，もしJackendoffが認知言語学の方に研究を進めていたら，この本が出発点として評価されていただろうと思う。この本では，今や認知言語学で前提となっている”意味＝概念”という考えが出てきたり，また，ゲシュタルト心理学の知見と意味論を結び付けたりと，認知言語学徒の私としては，この本は実は認知言語学の先駆けとみることもできるなあと思って読んだ。認知言語学をやっている人はぜひとも一読を勧める。
