⭐Finding Chernov’s 1984 circle estimation method was a huge boost for my applications in mid-90’s. Since then, I was closely following Nikolai’s developments until his untimely death. This book should be read or at least looked through by everyone who ever utters “Circle estimate”. It is amazing how people keep reinventing, publishing and using the same old crappy methods, including even professional mathematicians and computer scientists. Enough such highly regarded libraries as OpenCV, dlib and Geometric tools, all are using much worse and slower methods, compared to what you find in his book.The book is written very clearly, well designed and systematic. Despite Nikolai’s pioneership, he doesn’t put his name first in the discussion.I highly recommend the book to statisticians and computer professionals who deal with image and video processing.

⭐There are many hidden issues in the deceptively simple-looking problem of fitting circles to noisy data. This book combines the historical, mathematical, and practical approaches in a very informative manner. Many algorithms are compared at the analytical and empirical (synthetic data simulation) levels. A good balance is maintained between issue of academic interest and practical solutions.
