As a Civil Rights attorney, she litigated cases for the NAACP Legal Defense Fund, Inc., Community Legal Services of Philadelphia, and Southern Poverty Law Center. She taught in the Africana program at Vassar College. Gloria Browne-Marshall is Founder/Director of The Law and Policy Group, Inc., a journalist who covers the U.S. Supreme Court, a playwright, and author of several books on justice under law.

⭐Well written and research, I learned a lot about the history of the criminal justice systems for this book.

⭐The information and the timeline of outlined events. A great book that gives insight to all the civil rights and criminal investigation cases brought by Blacks in America in the search of justice from 1607 to current. My husband always tells me about the story of Emmitt Till and how his brave mom buried him just as he was to show the world how cruel America was to black people, but seeing the picture in this book and reading about it was something to behold.

⭐My race and law class at Morehouse used this book as the primary textbook this semester. I loved the book and the way it broke down the history of America.

⭐One of the best books I ever had to read. It was the first text book I ever read cover to cover.This book was insightful and honest. Everyone should read this book. I am looking forward to reading Gloria Brown-Marshall’s next book!

⭐Warning! It a joke book. It a joke because you turn the page and you never know if the page will fall out of the binding. FYI more than half of the pages fell out. X)

⭐Love the fact that this is the truth. Unbiased straight from the court documents. Praying for us as a nation to overcome racism.

⭐Thank God I had the ability to only rent this book for $18 which I consider too much for such an unworthy book.In my entire Academic course I have not seen such a bad written book.It consists of dry information and the author jumps from one topic to another within a paragraph.There is no consistent flow of events and in many cases the content deviates from the facts discussed within two sentences. For instance, you read about case A and in the next sentence the author jumps to case B just to explain the case C on the third sentence. Not to mention that the timeline of the cases can be all over the place. Case A might be before the 1947, case B before the civil war and case C somewhere in the middle.Furthermore the end notes provide little or no evidence/information of the sources used something that questions the validity of the information used in the book.Overall it is very bad book and I feel very sorry that American Students have to pay for it and try to get an A.It needs way more work to become a worthy book and students should have other choices since they pay the hard worked money for this.Routledge, should know better. Author’s like this one, destroy the name and the fame of the publisher.If I had a choice, I would ask for money back.

⭐When your college professor writes a book and assigns it a required text for the curriculum… This here is what you get and a great read it is! (Wink, thanks Professor Browne) the text focuses on issues in American society that aren’t often focused on typical textbook literature. Unlike other texts that are usually required for law students, this book tells stories in words that both compliment and criticize the way our society functions.
