Description

All is quiet at Janet Begay’s Crossroads Hotel, where the paranormal is normal, until Emmett Smith, the most powerful mage in the world, arrives to announce his intent to steal Janet’s smart-mouthed magic mirror.

Janet already has her hands full trying to keep her sister Gabrielle under control as well as plan her upcoming wedding to her dragon-Shifter boyfriend Mick and taking care of the weird creatures that suddenly turn up at Barry’s biker bar.

When Janet is knocked out fighting the creatures, she wakes up seemingly in the past, when she and Mick had first met and traveled across country by motorcycle, alone and free. The dream seems so real that Janet begins to forget it isn’t.

The dreams call her back, each one more powerful than the last, until she can no longer distinguish between past and present—and she’s not the only one affected. Janet and her friends—Mick, Cassandra, Nash, Gabrielle, Coyote, and the dragon—must band together to thwart this greatest of magics before it splits them into fragments and leaves the world vulnerable to the most evil of evils.

Book 5 in the Stormwalker series.

⭐ FINAL DECISION: A book ultimately about connections, caring and relationship wrapped in a paranormal shell, this book moves the mythology of the Stormwalkers series forward with the presence of all of Janet’s family and friends.THE STORY: Janet Begay, Stormwalker and half-goddess, is planning her wedding to dragon Mick when the most powerful mage Emmett Smith demands her magic mirror or else he will take it from her — and he doesn’t care who gets hurt. When a battle with demons knocks Janet out and sends her to a dream world in the past, Janet and her friends and family begin to live in a world where the dreams of the past may not happen like before and where there are real dangers. Janet needs to find a way back to the present and defeat Emmett before everyone she loves is destroyed.OPINION: This book has a lot of drama as Janet struggles through her dreams. Janet struggles with her ever increasing group of loved ones and friends. The more she cares about others, she is both more powerful and also more vulnerable. I especially liked how Janet’s relationship with her sister continues to evolve. In this book, they have a breakthrough. I also enjoyed being able to see Janet evaluate her relationship with Mick in her dreams. After reading the other books in the series, this book gives a sense of how far the two have traveled together and developed. While this book has a lot of action in it, I appreciate the relationships more.WORTH MENTIONING: This is the first Stormwalker novel after a several year hiatus. Thankfully, the tone of the novels and the characters blend in nicely with the previous novels.CONNECTED BOOKS: DREAMWALKER is the fifth book in the Stormwalkers series. The story here can be read as a standalone although there is a continuing mythology.STAR RATING: I give this book 4 stars.

⭐ After reading Nightwalker in a collection for Jennifer Ashley’s writing (Allyson James is her pen name for this series) my interest in the series was renewed and I went back and reread book one, read Firewalker and Shadow walker for the first time and am now hip deep in this one. I highly recommend the entire series. Janet Begay is half Navaho and half Beneath Goddess (read the books if you want to know what that means) and she has Stormwalker earth magic from her Native American side and evil magic from her mother. Her life is a constant juggling act between the two, but since she is a very good person at core she is determined to do no harm. Her fiancé Mick is a dragon shifter and oh so sexy. She has a hotel that is full of magic, a hotel manager who is a powerful Wiccan witch and the list goes on. You really should read all the books in order to get the full flavor of Janet and friends (and enemies), but book 5 certainly keeps up the excellent writing, exciting and dangerous adventure and all around good fun.

⭐ I so enjoy the Stormwalker series by Allyson James. This fifth book in the series did not disappoint. Janet and Mick and the many interactions with all the family and friends kept me engrossed. What kept me most engrossed were the dreams and what they were really about as Janet needed (finally!) to figure out how to use her powers. I enjoy all the Native American references regarding magic and shamans and the mystery of it all. Of course, Coyote and his “mystery” and round-about advice does not make me smile. Great descriptors of the Northern Arizona landscape and the Hopi culture and, “Oh, those dragons!” Simply excellent.

⭐ Let me start off by saying the mirror is THE BEST!I must say I was getting nervous every time she was thrown into the past and then what began to occur there was freaking me out. Quite a journey! This series is so good, and the character development is so epic. I love Janet & Mick…the craziness, the adventures, the pure adoration they have for each other even though they see each other’s flaws. They compliment each other’s strengths and weaknesses. And the surrounding characters make the story complete.

⭐ I really love this series and author. I dithered between “some sexual content” and “explicit sexual content” because there are some sex scenes, but they aren’t what you would find in erotica and IMO they aren’t all that frequent. I consider the sex pretty tame in this series. It isn’t a bodice ripper.Allyson James’ take on the supernatural world is quite fresh. I love the way she creates her characters. Their depth and quirks makes them multi-dimensional.I also love that the story is situated in Arizona and New Mexico in places I have actually visited!

⭐ The book follows the series very well. Story line is good but a little draggy at the beginning. Stay with it as it really ramps up later.

⭐ Great continuation of the series despite the long break. It very well was worth waiting for. A lot of action and and angst and we got to see most of the prior secondary characters having kick butt parts. Ms James stated she will be continuing the series and I look forward to her future stories. This series also makes me want to explore the area that the series is set in. Thank you Ms James for sharing your stories!!

⭐ Solid series. Good enough that I bought the books on Amazon that my library didn’t carry.

⭐ I loved book 1 and couldn’t stop reading your series. When I saw book 5, started reading. This book also gets 5 stars as well as your books 1 – 4. Now knowing your writing more for your series. I’m already waiting to turn my Brian for another adventure… who needs a TV, when there’s good books to read.Thank youC. Harlow

⭐ Another hit out of the ballpark in this 5th book of the Stormwalker series. A favorite series from a favorite author who also writes as “Jennifer Ashley”.
