Editorial Reviews: Review �Of all the texts that I have read and used, Spielvogel provides the best overall summary. It is more balanced than any other text and its straightforward chronological approach is most suited to introductory students.��I prefer Spielvogel to [other texts]. First of all, WESTERN CIVILIZATION has one author and reads better as a result. The reading experience is more ‘seamless’ for my students. [One text] didn’t have enough detail, while [another text] had too much at times, or so my students claimed. Spielvogel has just the right balance.��Bay College adopts Spielvogel because it is ‘THE’ text for Western Civilization. Other texts are adequate but Spielvogel presents an INTRODUCTORY view that covers the Core Concepts. Spielvogel is not too political, not too religious, not too economy-focused.� About the Author Jackson J. Spielvogel is Associate Professor Emeritus of History at The Pennsylvania State University. He received his Ph.D. from The Ohio State University, where he specialized in Reformation History under Harold J. Grimm. His articles and reviews have appeared in journals such as MOREANA, JOURNAL OF GENERAL EDUCATION, CATHOLIC HISTORICAL REVIEW, ARCHIV F�R REFORMATIONSGESCHICHTE and AMERICAN HISTORICAL REVIEW. He also has contributed chapters or articles to THE SOCIAL HISTORY OF REFORMATION, THE HOLY ROMAN EMPIRE: A DICTIONARY HANDBOOK, the SIMON WIESENTHAL CENTER ANNUAL OF HOLOCAUST STUDIES and UTOPIAN STUDIES. His work has been supported by fellowships from the Fulbright Foundation and the Foundation for Reformation Research. At Penn State, he helped inaugurate the Western Civilization course, as well as a popular course on Nazi Germany. His book HITLER AND NAZI GERMANY was first published in 1987 (7th Edition, 2014). In addition, he is the author of WESTERN CIVILIZATION, first published in 1991 (10th Edition, 2018), and co-author (with William Duiker) of WORLD HISTORY, first published in 1994 (9th Edition, 2019). Professor Spielvogel has won five major university-wide teaching awards. During the 1988-1989 year, he held the Penn State Teaching Fellowship, the university’s most prestigious teaching award. He won the Dean Arthur Ray Warnock Award for Outstanding Faculty member in 1996 and received the Schreyer Honors College Excellence in Teaching Award in 2000.

⭐Came on time and as expected. School purchase.

⭐Book arrived on time, and in excellent condition. I used an e-book of this text for a two-part college course a while back, and liked it so much that I decided to get a physical copy of it. I would recommend watching for it go on sale though, as it can be quite pricey. I got mine, new, for $92. If you like History and want a text that goes from the beginning of recorded history to present day that has many insights into the daily lives of our ancestors, this may be the book for you.

⭐If you like history this book is for you! Great pictures love the timelines they help you for quizzes and test. It also brought back memories when I was in grade school!
