⭐It’s well written and renders an overall info about the topic, even to those who do have general knowledge. Rcommended as it isn’t another boring history book.

⭐This is a great reference book if you’re interested in the daily life and culture of the core Ottoman Empire region of Anatolia, plus nearby areas like the Balkans. The author is obviously well-informed and respectful, and I learned a ton. It covers subjects like food and drinks, religious beliefs and festivals, government administration, clothes and houses, cleanliness and bathing, birth and death, weddings and funerals. It is not a history book, but some history creeps in.I’m a bit sad to see this book has two 1-star reviews, because it doesn’t deserve them. One of those looks like it was just an *accident* because the text of the accompanying review is quite positive. The other was someone complaining about the price, not the book itself, and the price has dropped since then. (Besides, if a book is too expensive, you can always get it at the library–like I did.) It’s a great reference book for writers or students.

⭐kindle version is too expensive, I do not get it how on earth this book can be 52 us dollars. really expensive man. besides, it does not have a rental option, you should review your price policy amazon. you know what amazon? you are kidding your customer.

⭐Fascinating chapters on all aspects of daily life among the Ottomans. Very well researched and engagingly written.
