⭐Both Vol 1 and 2, are one of the more fantastic books that this world has in its possession!!! Will you miss something, if you don’t read it? Probably!!! Will you enjoy it if you read it? Only if your creativeness and imagination are still intact!!! Will it waste your time? No way, Charlie Brown, or Lucy’s either!!!!!

⭐Robert Graves may have done the most thorough job possible in collecting all the Greek Myths, all the variants and local legends pertaining to it. As a source for raw information on the subject, this is an absolute treasure.Having said that, he had one flaw. ‘The Golden Bough’ was a highly influential book at the time he was writing. Most of its premises have been largely disproven now and are mainly ignored in the academic community. Graves explains all the myths, however, using the ideas laid out there. This is a masterpiece, but not for its wild connections. It is a masterpiece of research only.

⭐I had the Greek Myths in paperback for a number of years. It’s good to also have the Kindle version, particularly for looking things up. I’m not a classical scholar myself, but just interest in the myths. From that viewpoint, I’m sure I’m missing quite a few nuances, but I’m happy with this volume (…and Vol1…) as a reference for my purposes.

⭐Robert Graves’s two volumes have been in print for over 60 years, with good reason. This was a model for all future handbooks that probably few of them lived up to (the introduction explains the structure Graves planned for every chapter). Meticulous, rich in interpretations, a stimulus for anyone with imagination (including young writers): its wonderful strengths are famous. Any newer interpretations that classical scholars have developed over the intervening 50 years can be explored later. This is the starting point.

⭐These versions of the Greek Myths and the analysis behind them is not for someone just wanting to read exciting stories of adventure. Not totally for the academic it does need the reader to have interest in entire structure of myth and it’s origins and can be a little heavy going in large bites! But if you are really interested it’s a very good book indeed
