User’s Reviews

Reviews from Amazon users which were colected at the time this book was published on the website:

⭐This could be used by any reader who wants to learn more about ancient Egypt. You can be an expert or completely unfamiliar with this subject. Either way Sir E.A. Wallis Budge has made this easily digestible and very simple to understand.

⭐Another will written historical adventure thriller short story by Sir E. A. Wallis Budge about the Egyptian papyrus full of the history of the time. This is not what I expected from the title, give it a try. Enjoy the adventure of reading or listening to Alexa as I do because of health issues. 2022

⭐Over and over the parallels to the biblical Jesus and the Old Testament 10 commandments stick out in the Egyptian Book of the Dead. A lot of borrowing of mythological archetypes was done during stitching together the bible and other relatively modern religious texts from ancient Mesopotamian cultures. This is good to read for those searching for truth and enlightenment and are waking up from years of brain washing from main stream Abrahamic religions. The Egyptians were highly educated, and sophisticated for their time, yet they needed to personify the world around them to make sense of everything and to help them overcome the fear of death. Surprisingly, centuries later people really haven’t evolved that much, we still think we need gods to make sense of the world. The universe created people and people created gods to relate to the universe, enough said.

⭐A fairly detailed description of the Book of the Dead. Some illustrations would have been nice. Just tells what the book was.

⭐For the price you can’t beat it.

⭐A reasonably well presented facsimile of the of the 1920 Edition. The half plate reproductions are just acceptable with a large lens. The original text is dated and of course highly questionable. It is a book that will join a number of other Budge originals and copies in my library.Reproduction books are often irritating in that they are often incomplete – My copies ofBudge; The Papyrus of Ani; A reproduction in facsimile, is missing all of the 37 essentialplates, Budge The Egyptian book of the Dead; The Papyrus of Ani Egyptian Text Transliterationand Translation missing once again the original 37 Plates, & Budge; Papyrus of Ani, The EgyptianBook of the Dead,is printed in some ‘New Age’ typo which seems intent on placing the contentsfirmly within a context of crystals & incense! None of these books sadly contain the printing historyof the publications, and this last one, once again has no title on the spine!

⭐Just a brief synopsis of the book of the dead. An attempt to explain what the Book of The Dead was used for and the introduction and brief description of gods that were contacted as one passed to the Kingdom of Osiris. Not the actual book of the dead.

⭐I was surprised to see so many parallels to the Bible. Some of the stories were identical and some were literally exactly the same.

⭐I was very disappointed with this version of the book. It was not the translation I had hoped for but merely a summary. None of the beautiful vignettes were reproduced and it was a very disappointing read as a result. Perhaps a print version might have been better plus a better sample chapter on Amazon might have made it clearer what I was getting. I dithered between this freebie and a charged version and wished I had opted for the latter

⭐Very happy with the book and the price and how quick it got to me

⭐This book was really good, packed with information. Very useful for what i wanted to know. A friend recommended it to me.

⭐Needs to be read more than once.if you study the bible which I haven’t, then you may make many comparisons. Also some off our traditions in relation to the deceased.

⭐Lacked any images of the items described, but an interesting read.I am now keen to explore the subject further.
