⭐Brandon and Mariana’s story. Book 5 in the STolen Bride Series. These two met after the Ross had burned a village and left her to either live or die. Mariana was Longshank’s mistress. He had sent her with a message for The Ross, the highlander who turned on the Scots and supported the English during the war. Mariana is just a high class whore. She has had so many men that she does whatever the English King tells to. She will stay with any man he orders her to have sex with. Brandon falls in love with her even knowing what she is. You can read this book to learn what is between she and Brandon. I am not fond of this book. As much as I love reading Eliza Knight books I just cannot recommend this as a good read. I just had to make myself pick up this book and read to the ending. The fact that she has had so many men is beyond my beliefs.

⭐Unlike some of the other critical reviewers, I don’t find Mariana’s past unappealing. On the contrary, I’m so tired of the usual historical romances with virginal women and the men who teach them. I’ve enjoyed the author’s independent and unique women. It’s refreshing to have their sexual connection equal.The problem with this story is that the entire thing takes place in three days. By day two he’s in love with her? It just is not plausible. Why are they in love? What do each of them do to heal the other’s emotional needs and make their a complete union? You see what he fulfills for her, but what does she fulfill for him? You don’t have enough time to develop that in three days. So I guess it’s that she’s hot and kind-hearted, is pretty much all I see him valuing her for. That could be anyone. What makes her special? We didn’t get to see that character development.The first meeting is not credible either and is part of what puts you off. He is part of group of warriors in the middle of their battle, rescuing villagers from a fire in the process, and he practically forgets all of that when he rescues her from the village fire? On page one? No. And everyone else is rightfully skeptical that she could be a spy but he can just tell that she’s innocent? I too had to force myself to finish the book.In this series, Eliza has ended some of the books with us meeting the heroine for the next one, but in a couple of the cases she has set up that meeting so that your loyalty is to the heroine you’ve just been reading about and you are a bit put off by the upcoming one. So it takes you a chapter or two to start liking the new person, and this book began with that challenge. That, combined with Brandon’s unbelievable reaction of love at first sight, plus again the full story culminating in three days, just made it a book I needed to get through to get to the next story. It’s unfortunate because it didn’t do justice to either of the good characters and really wasted hers.

⭐I was attracted by the fact that this story looked a bit different from the rest. No long journeys from one place to another where the main characters know each other and fall in love, after having survived all kind of dangers, like English soldiers, mercenaries, outlaws, etc. mostly all books are alike and follow a pattern, but in this one, the heroine was peculiar and the action took place mostly in two castles. BUT i didn’t like the French lady’s past and life, and didn’t like Brandon accepting her as if she were the best woman on earth. I feel Brandon deserved a better woman and although she was a victim of her “owners” she didn’t look so sorry or worry at first. The book was boring to me.

⭐This is book 5 of the stolen bride series and if you haven’t read the other four books than I would highly recommend it. The story starts out with one of the big events from book 4. I loved the lead character Brandon both in this book and previous installments. Mariana was charming and full of life as well. She is a different sort of lead character for a historical romance since most tend to be virginal. However she is a mistress to the English King and has been the mistress to the French King as well as engaged in relations with several other men. She was sold into this life by her family at the age of 15 so it was not a chosen lifestyle on her part. Brandon has also had a troubled past and struggles with his own demons. They make a great match and must fight for their happy ending. Good book and I would recommend it along with the rest of the stolen bride series.Summary:Laird Brandon Sinclair has given his life to the Scottish cause. ⭐My Granny as the whole series for books she says the storylines are very good. So If like Highlanders like my granny this books is most get in her eyes

⭐Loved this gripping story. Had to keep reading. This series continues to get better and better. Off to read the next one.

⭐I have been reading books ever since I got my 1st Kindle and I cant get enough of them.This book took me into another world, would recommend to anyone, you get absorbed in the story.You never know what is going to happen next, this series has you hooked so expect lots of late nights reading.
