Editorial Reviews: From the Back Cover This book holds all the secrets to opening and running a successful inn. It gives you guidelines for choosing a profitable location and describes a day in the life of the average inn owner. You can find information about how to write up a business plan, what to include on you Web site, what “house rules” you need to set up to keep your guests and your investment safe, and how to use your own personal touch to make your inn unique. About the Author Park Davis is a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America and a travel counselor who left Long Island, New York, and “washed ashore” at Provincetown, Massachusetts, eight years ago. With a bit of money, the kindness of strangers, and a healthy dose of blind ambition, Park set out on a course of buying, rehabbing, and selling guesthouses. He now concentrates his efforts on his luxurious Benchmark Inn & Central in Provincetown, where he hopes to have the pleasure of welcoming you. Susannah Craig, a Connecticut native, worked for six years in both the editorial and marketing sides of book publishing. She currently is a full-time freelance writer and researcher whose other book projects include The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Being a Smart Landlord.

Reviews from Amazon users which were colected at the time this book was published on the website:

⭐This book had, what was probably pretty good advice in 2001 when it was written, though I have a feeling it was probably a tad dated then. Some of the stuff still holds up, but this desperately needs an updated revision. The lodging business has changed dramatically in the past 15 years. It is definitely NOT worth the 12.99 they’re asking for in 2016. Do yourself a favor and get the Running a Bed and Breakfast Dummies book (for a dollar less!) that was written in 2009 for much more up-to-date info. I’m still looking for a great B&B book written in ’15 or ’16…

⭐My husband and I have stayed at B&B’s all over the world and have come to realize how very special they are. We have first-hand experience as guests – what is exceptional and what is detrimental – and in our pursuit of a dream semi-retirement income, we decided to look into the ins-and-outs of running a B&B. This book conveys the positives and the negatives of B&B ownership with its no-holds-barred representation. I am a business owner in private practice as a holistic practitioner and as a product creator/manufacturer for my website […], I have some business knowledge but certainly not with having “someone in my home” as my source of income. I highly recommend this book to anyone even toying with the possibility of B&B ownership. After reading it and doing some introspection, then make your choice whether to pursue it further.

⭐Used this as required reading when teaching a class on “small property management”. Gives a great overview and a realistic view of running a b&b (have run one for 6 years). Some of info is outdated – can’t address current trends since it’s a book – but does a great job on the financial side of it. There are lots of b&b books out there and I would definitely recommend this one for anyone thinking about opening up a b&b. Fair warning if you want to run a b&b – really think about the lifestyle aspect that they talk about in the book. It is definitely a lifestyle! It really is a 24×7 job.

⭐The decision of whether or not to invest in a B&B is a life altering, yet fun adventure and The Complete Guide to Running a Bed and Breakfast by Park Davis made it all the more interesting. The book came to us in used, but decent condition.

⭐Good information –now I know why I DON’T wnat to be a complete idiot and spend all that money and headaches and did I mention life shortening…. to start and run a bed and breakfast

⭐I purchased this book prior to opening a Bed and Breakfast in Hilham, TN. I read it thoroughly and felt its content was accurate and helpful to navigate through all aspects of running an Inn. It is easy to read and digest. I adapted the sample check-in and confirmation sheet to fit my needs saving me time and money. We have been open for one month and doing well so far without any surprises. I would recommend this book for anyone considering opening up a B&B.

⭐Good book lots of info

⭐This book seems to cover anything you’d want to know if you are dreaming of becoming an innkeeper. Well done.

⭐It was what I was looking for.

⭐A bit dated in some details, but a lot about running a B&B doesn’t change over a few years. Still one of the best books on this subject out there.
