Reviews from Amazon users which were colected at the time this book was published on the website:
⭐I just got back from a two-week stay in Rome, with my husband and four children. This was our first trip overseas. I found Rome for Dummies to be moderately helpful. The organization of the book and the concise descriptions are adequate, although I found that admission prices at most attractions were usually 1 Euro more than what is printed in this book. A more comprehensive map of the bus/metro system and better explanation on how the stops work would have made this book a lot better. The information about how to get online in Rome, if you are taking your laptop, is also incomplete. I took three guidebooks to Rome: Rome for Dummies, Lonely Planet Rome, and the Eyewitness Guide to Rome. The Eyewitness Guide is definitely the best for giving information about the sites, such as art histories and artist’s names, etc, but Rome for Dummies is more helpful than Lonely Planet for basic information about surviving your trip.
⭐Took this to Rome on our vacation. My wife hates me to walk around with a Dummies book. She thinks I look like the dummie. I found the book very useful.
⭐I checked out several books from my local library before deciding on a book to purchase to use as the travel guide for my upcoming trip to Rome. I read each major travel guide and compared all the books for structure and usability. I preferred Rome for Dummies because it has the same User Friendly set-up of all the “Dummies” books. Tips on local customs, what to see and do in a limited amount of time, how to attend a papal audience, etc. are the kind of tips that made me feel like I was talking to a local Roman instead of reading a book. Did you know that it costs more to sit and have a cup of coffee than to stand and have coffee? Neither did I, but I do now. Unlike other “cumbersome” travel guides, this book fits my description of “if I were going to write the perfect travel guide to fit all my personal wants and needs, this is how I’d do it.”
⭐I found this to be far less informative than I expected.
⭐Great book along with Rick Steve’s ROME got us to all our desired destination with ease, so many helpful tips. Lots of great food choices, lodging and travel advice. You must stay at DEKO ROME if you are traveling to this area.
⭐I always buy these books when traveling. This one on Rome was as great as the others on Paris and London for Dummies. Very helpful.
⭐Decent guidebook
⭐I have purchased numerous Dummies books on various subjects (mostly travel) and really enjoy the content and the way things are laid out in the book. Very helpful! We plan on going to Rome in November of 2013. I expect that this guide will help us as much as previous guides.
⭐Helpful for our trip, kept it in case we so go back
⭐Brilliant book. Gives you all you need to know about Rome. Based my itinerary on it, and I was really happy with the outcome. Totally recommend it.
