Description

This introduction to the scattering theory of low energy (0.1 to 1.0 eV) atomic and molecular collisions provides a strong theoretical background, maintaining a balance between classical and quantum approaches. Addresses the four main branches of the subject–elastic, inelastic and reactive scattering, and electron excitation–all supported by computational techniques.

Reviews from Amazon users which were colected at the time this book was published on the website:

⭐Atomic and molecular collision theory is a complicated subject, classically and semi-classically. I have a number of books on the subject. This book by Murrell and Bosanac well organized and provides a very good summary of the physics for the subject. It is easy to understand and insightful. On the other hand, the book is weak on potential scattering (for example Lennard Jones, etc) that chemists use to compute collision cross sections or molecular model complex molecules. Both the physics and chemistry views are needed in today’s world of collision theory, and no one book is good in both. This one is good for the physics.
