⭐This book is a milestone. I use it for my lectures and I suggest to others to use it also. Remembr, the authors are from the Manhattan Project and advisers for Westinghouse Electric and General Atomics before 1960s ! By adding the IAEA and ICRP databases along with software from other scholars you get correct contemporary image of Reactor Physics.

⭐This is a first textbook ever on nuclear reactors written by two leading scientists of a team which built the first actual nuclear reactor (as opposed to prior zero-power nuclear piles), the X-10 Graphite reactor at Oak Ridge National Lab during the Manhattan project. Reading the text will give you a great insight into the thinking process behind the early nuclear reactor designs. However, it is not much useful for current students, since the book is hard to read for beginners, focuses on analytic approaches and their approximations, whereas the current curriculum in reactor theory focuses on practical use of modern numerical methods. Current students should get an up-to-date textbook such as Duderstadt & Hamilton.

⭐I did BWR type nuclear power plant design in the 60s. This book was an excellent refresher of my earlier use of the book.

⭐Wigner and Weinberg were intellectual giants. So, the expectation was quite high and they did not disappoint. The copy, now 55 years after print, is in excellent shape. It was a plesant surprise that, except for a little yellowing,it is almost new looking.

⭐Obwohl Molten Salt Reaktoren auch heute noch beworben werden, sind diese bereits ein Teil der Vergangenheit.Still the best reference for the nuclear reactor design and theory, written by two of the leading scientists of the early period of nuclear engineering.
