    Description

This thoroughly revised book in its third edition, continues to provide a comprehensive introduction to this increasingly important area of nuclear and particle physics. It combines coverage of basic concepts, principles and applications, along with the latest developments. Beginning with the historical developments of the subject, properties and constituents of the nucleus, quantitative facts about nucleus, etc., the book moves on to give insights into nuclear models, phenomenon of radioactivity and its applications in various fields, nuclear reactions including reactions in sun and stars, photoelectric and Compton effects, pair production, particle accelerators and types of radiation detectors. The text also presents an extensive discussion on elementary particles and their fundamental reactions, fundamental forces, conservation laws and the quark model. Besides updating and revising the existing text, the new edition amplifies several sections across the book for easy understanding of the topics discussed.

    User’s Reviews

Reviews from Amazon users which were colected at the time this book was published on the website:

⭐The one negative that needs to be pointed out is in the chapter on particles, chapter 8 where the symbols of some of the particles are replaced with small rectangles so you ha e no idea, if this was your first book on particle physics what these particles are called.

⭐Excellent book on a difficult subject and worth a place on any engineer’s bookshelf.

⭐In general, is a good book with good writing and provides easy understanding of the subject. But it has a big shortcoming: the equations are hard to read, and many are missing signs. I would give 5 stars if there isn’t this problem.

⭐not good not bad if u want deeper knowledge then go for other it is just ok for examination purpose ..still it’s good ,language is good, examples are explained well ..

⭐Anyone can do the math used in the book, felt to me like simple algebra problems. The book doesn’t have a lot about particle physics but the key concepts are there. Plenty of numericals to exercise the topics. Feels like reading a story book.

⭐if somebody want to get a good deeper introduction to the subject then the book is of no use. so from the point of view of understanding the physics book go as just ok. but if u r an undergraduate student looking for some material to help you score good in your exam without spending much time then the book is a worth buying.
