⭐Caveat emptor: I bought this to learn about stuff that’s current. The book is about 8 or more years old. Like with all things tech-related these days, software and hardware utilities and abilities are changing so fast. Basic principles still apply, so for that reason I’m keeping it. But if you are looking for current tech infornation, always check the issue date right?

⭐In a world of rapidly advancing technology, it is understandably difficult to write a book based upon technology that is not quickly outdated. As such, the 2005 copyright might incite some immediate hesitation. Unfortunately, there is not a significant amount of comparable reading material with regard to this subject matter which has been written more recently. However, in this case, there is relatively little to fear. In my opinion, the core concepts still apply, and the reader is simply forced to replace the written “currently available” this or that with what one knows to now be available in terms of both hardware and software.This work is a legitimate help to inexperienced readers who are seeking to wet their palate or gain a better understanding of the home recording process. In fact, the material found within ranges from the most basic of basic to fairly complex subject material, and much of what should be between. The only drawbacks might be (other than the date issue) the fact that the author focuses primarily on Pro Tools and Logic; however, if the reader prefers either Pro Tools or Logic this would be a significant advantage. Even this is understandable when considering the veritable plethora of available software options, and I commend the author for even covering two of the major players at such great depths. Furthermore, the author, at least, attempts to take an unbiased approach while explaining processes involving both Macs and PCs. Overall, if the title appears to pertain to what it is that you are looking for, the purchase is probably worth it if not only until an updated version is available.

⭐I have not read the book yet but I am sure I will have fun reading it cause book for DUMMIES ,well they make it interesting so yeah if you would want to have fun with a fun book to read about a PC Studio this is the book that will help you to understand more. Buy this book.The only thing I didn’t like about my item is that Amazon didn’t pack it in tight as to where it could of gotten shuffled around and got damage during delivery but lucky me it came here brand new. Now with Prime s/h it was here in 1 day. Remember people this is for PC Recording studios another words a studio that comes in software format.Thanks

⭐I had no idea on how to do PC recording, now I know. However, I put 4 star instead of 5 because of the book is not up-to-date enough. The PC requirement descriped in the book is kinda old, I think they need to keep the book update for every year (if that is possible). For example, 1G or 2G RAM is quite common these days, but the book still staying in the 256-512M age. But in general, it is a great book on how to start out on PC recording.

⭐Great book for some basic know-how kind of stuff, but VERY outdated by today’s standards. Good reference for beginners. Picked it up for a few problem-solving areas of my own home studio. Hope the author will come out with a newer version soon.

⭐Purchased this as a present for my teenage son who is very interested in the recording side of music. He loves the book and says it is easy to understand.

⭐PCRS4D was published in 2005 and is now completely out of date. I am a fledging computer music composer, and if you are too, you will find the book of next to no use. And,as if that wasn’t enough, author Jeff Strong’s style is much drier than the usual “For Dummies” fare-PCRS4 is a very dull read. Not recommended!!
