Description
Chapters 1-5 of this book contain all the material normally included in a third semester multivariable calculus course. Chapters 6-10 cover such topics as Fourier series, Green’s and Stokes’s Theorems, and the implicit function theorem. The authors have made their treatment of the topics in the second half of the book as independent of each other as possible, giving the instructor a high degree of flexibility in structuring the course. This part of the book provides the topics for a thorough introduction to advanced calculus. A brief chapter on linear algebra is included in the Appendix.
User’s Reviews
Reviews from Amazon users which were colected at the time this book was published on the website:
⭐Each section is fairly bite-sized. Each section gives pretty clear detail on how/why a particular theorem holds. Each section has problems which illuminate the theorems in the related section. The overall balance of topics is clear. The text is nicely focused on the math for the sake of the math…not very applied. This slightly “pure” approach may be disconcerting for folks without “mathematical maturity”. Usually that phrase is short hand for “fill in the blanks which the author did not”, but in this case it simply means that you have to think of math within the domain of math, not as a tool to solve a particular applied problem.
