Reviews from Amazon users which were colected at the time this book was published on the website:

⭐Usually I love Dummies books but this one is definitely not up to my usual expectations with this series. Author not the best teacher, at least for me. For example, describes things in a paragraph supposedly shown in accompanying picture, but item not there. Too late to return this, I’m going out to buy something else. Note: I don’t think it’s just this edition but the author’s lack of care, and/or need for more thoughtful editing. As the title says, don’t buy this one. Hope the author/editor rework this to bring it up to the usual quality of Dummies books, which shouldn’t be that difficult to do. I realize a lot of work went into it already.

⭐I’ve not fully utilized this book yet. However, my initial experience is that it has been helpful but not so much specifically for the keyboard associated with the ’99 to 2004 version iMac and the iMac itself. For example, the book says that deletions of text can be done with a key similar to a right arrow that is Not on my keyboard. Regarding the people who sold this book to me via Amazon, the Friends of the Library on Talbert Av. in Huntington Beach, CA, I have high praise for them. They said it was in very good shape ,and It is!

⭐I recently bought an IMAC and knew nothing about it. This book is a excellent book if you are new to Mac. This books literally breaks down everything, it even give you shortcuts to different functions. I recommend this book if you know absolutly nothing about a mac. Glad I purchased this book! Actually I made a lot of For Dummies books purchases and found them to be very helpful. I would recommend any for dummies book if you want to become more knowledgeable about anything.

⭐I have fancied all my “For Dummies” series books with the exception of this one. The author doesn’t present the material in reference fashion. One cannot page quickly to the section to troubleshoot problems. When you actually finally page to the specific section, the information is not easy to decipher. I cannot recommend this text.

⭐Easy and pleasant Amazon transaction in every way. Great value! Thanks again. Highly recommended! A+I read from start to finish. Informative for the Dummies out there whom purchase these simplified books:)

⭐This title is very misleading, causing me to buy the wrong book. This book is about the snow leopard operating system. New iMacs run on Lion, slightly different. If you have snow leopard, good book

⭐The book was helpful, but I just don’t like the MAC system. Keep hoping it will break and I can justify buying a PC.

⭐After over 20 years of having to use a PC, since it was the standard where I worked, it is a joy to be back on a Mac and this book sure made it easier.

⭐I bought this book as I am new to iMac. I wanted something that I could dip in to to find answers to specific questions. So far I have been unable to find an answer to a single question about my iMac. Either I am using the wrong terms and cannot find an item in the index or the book does not answer simple questions for beginners. For example; “Keychain access”. Not a mention in the index. I cannot find out what it does or how to use it and yet it appears to be very important to the operation of the machine as it controls passwords! If you need advice or help I suggest that you log on to “Apple sliced” and save yourself some cash.

⭐This was my first Mac book. It probably contains some useful advice if you have the patience to endure the irritating style. Its most significant feature is its cheapness. Difficult to recommend a book that doesn’t take its subject with just a little seriousness.

⭐I got this book about 6 weeks after I got my iMac and by then I had worked out most of the iMac/PC differences. I grew a little tired of the author’s self-congratulatory back-slapping and the style of writing grated after a while. That said, there is plenty of useful information in here which may be helpful.

⭐iMac for Dummies proved to be just what I needed. Entering the new world of Apple I needed some help to start me off. Supply and delivery was perfect and I must say that i am very pleased with it all.

⭐I returned to Macs recently after many years on the dark side. It is a helpful book although I seem to prefer sturdier covers as it helps the book to last and stay tidy and neat…like the mac on my desk!
