Reviews from Amazon users which were colected at the time this book was published on the website:

⭐If you want to learn every possible nuance of home recording, for every possible configuration of equipment (even outdated equipment) but learn nothing, this is the book for you. Packed with filler, annoyingly bad attempts at humor and unnecessary detail, if you are like me you will slug through to the end and come away with little other than very basic knowledge that could have been accomplished in ten pages. For the vast majority of home recording needs, shop around for a reliable interface (like a Scarlett 2i2) and watch a some YouTube videos.

⭐This is a good book with a lot of info primarily for those looking for where to get started. Also, its a little out of date, due to changing technology in this area. It did help me decide to continue working with DAW (PC based setup), as opposed to moving to a Tascam or Zoom multi-channel digital recorder, and also provided helpful information on equalizer settings for various input sources. Information on usb interfaces vs the use of sound cards is good, as well, although again a bit outdated.

⭐Kindle book provides details for novice or person who is re-entering sound recording. There’s some great basic information and it is written unbiased. It covers analog and digital recording. This is very helpful for setting up your own recording studio in your home. I highly recommend.

⭐This helped me out in soooooooooo many ways.I would be lost without this book.

⭐It’s thorough, handles all the basics, offers good advice on gear and does all this in a highly readable manner. All in all I’d say it’s an excellent source of information for someone getting into recording.

⭐Concise and engaging. I often find myself saying “yeah but what about…” as I read. I don’t recall a single instance when my “real time” questions weren’t answered almost as fast as they came up. Just the right amount of humor to keep the subject matter from becoming boring. Many books heavy on technical subjects tend to double well as a sleep aid. However, Home Recording for Musicians was a real page turner. Although that may say more about me than the book.

⭐As a musician, it’s exactly what I was looking for. Plain language and recommendations on how to improve quality of my recordings. Wasn’t over my head with overly-professional topics and language.

⭐Unlike every other instructional I’ve tried, this one doesn’t assume the reader already has experience. I may actually be able to do some home recording with its help!

⭐Although I have been recording (guitars especially) for many years, using both analogue and digital processes, I found the Kindle version of this book to be a most useful and up-to-date reference manual, despite the fact that the title suggests that the book is aimed at those who have little understanding of the subject.Consequently, I would suggest (on the basis of my own appreciation of the content) that there is something for the more experienced too. This is especially the case with those, such as myself, who may have become confident in using older, more familiar ways of working, but have perhaps neglected to take on board more recent and useful developments in approaches to recording. The Internet links are also particularly useful in the Kindle edition, which makes it easy to access further appropriate information, as required.

⭐Bought this for my son to learn a little about Recording on a home based studio, suitable for beginners and intermediate recording guys. Suitable for anyone looking to move into the industry as it covers compression, microphones, microphone placement and a ton of other things. Great book 🙂

⭐An interesting book with plenty of information. I borrowed a copy and it was good so I bought one for myself. Sometimes I have to re-read sections to understand the concepts but that would be the same with any new information.

⭐I’ve just converted my office into a home music studio. This book will hopefully help me to progress.

⭐Probably too much ground covered for as detailed a book as the Dummies books usually are, but a worthwhile overview for the complete beginner who has YouTubed very little as yet.
