Reviews from Amazon users which were colected at the time this book was published on the website:
⭐I bought this book as an amateur and was amazed at how well it explained the techniques required for driving, putting and chipping. It goes step by step through the execution of the various motions and talks about range of movement, starting and end points, body positions and strength. However, nowadays you can find a lot of materials on youtube videos.
⭐”Golf for Dummies” 3rd Edition is a weak attempt by a Professional (Gary McCord) to help beginners find their way around playing golf. For the most part, I found this book traveling the ranges of advanced play to intermediate play, to history of golf, to various professional courses and to techniques in how Gary made it into professional golf world. That seems good for those who do not want to play golf. But for me, I found the reading quite challenging. Gary missed making a smooth transition between a starting player with just a few used golf clubs to practice and moving onto the first purchage of golf clubs and there forward. The lack of transition seemed to be the main weakness in the book. His editors are to blame for that. As for the content, Gary McCord has lots of good content and substance about golf. I enjoyed a few of the tips he gave about measuring the game. How many shots hit the fairway. How many were safe shots. How many were risky shots. What percentage of the game is the short play and putting. These were very good. Golf is both an intelectual/physical and visual game. So much of what happens at the golf course requires visual clues. Gary’s book could also have more visual clues as to the game. More of a hands on approach.
⭐I’ve been to a few pro’s and was not able to get rid of my slice. This book recommended I turn my left had more to the right (I’m a right handed golfer). It has improved my drives and I do not slice near as much. I have to play more to make the swing natural, but I’m well on my way to getting rid of a slice I’ve had for years. Very good advice on putting, bunkers, etc. Very Good for the golfer who has tried lessons, but didn’t get the advice needed to improve. Just one more tool to help you improve your game.
⭐Great product
⭐I decided to begin playing golf again after a 20 year absence.I hoped it would be like riding a bicycle but to be safe I decided to read this book prior to actually picking up the clubs again. I found it very useful for refreshing myself on the basics and also catching up on new techniques and equipment developments and terminology since I last played. It gave me enough confidence to play 18 holes on a very challenging course after one lesson with the course pro.I would have liked more illustations but other than that, the book was excellent.
⭐Got this book as a complete and total golf novice. It gave me all the information needed for me to start as a golfer, even the “stupid stuff”. I am still a crummy golfer but can’t fault the book for this, haha
⭐I bought this book as a novice and was amazed at how well it explained the techniques required for driving, putting and chipping. It goes step by step through the execution of the various motions and talks about range of movement, starting and end points, body positions and strength. It will be greatly appreciated by anyone new to the game as well as anyone wanting to improve their game.
⭐From a novice golfer: This book was well-written and covers many of the technical fundamentals of the game. I found that the descriptions of the techniques, as well as the exercises to improve your stance or physical ability, was just as helpful as the explanation of the finer points of playing the game. I was going to read it cover-to-cover, but ended up skipping the majority of “The Part of Tens” which covers such things as the author’s ten favorite private and public golf courses, and the ten favorite male and female players. I may refer back to this info in the future if I become more interested in the history of the game and descriptions of the greatest players. Overall, I’m very satisfied with the book and plan to review sections of the book repeatedly in order to strengthen my playing skills.
⭐A good introduction to the background but fell a bit short of actual explanation of how to play golf
⭐Interesting
⭐Everything OK
⭐Libro molto interessante con spiegazioni molto chiare correlate da foto sia per principianti che per persone che praticano da anni questo sport.
