Reviews from Amazon users which were colected at the time this book was published on the website:
⭐My computer geek insisted on replacing IE with Firefox. I was flummoxed with the decision and knew I wasn’t savvy enough to use it to its best extent without help. I checked out this book from our library and knew immediately I had to have a copy for myself so I ordered it. What a godsend! Now I love Firefox and wouldn’t use anything else. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars was because it hasn’t been updated with later printings. I don’t know whether that’s essential or not. For me it isn’t but for those who are more technically advanced, this may be an issue. I do some data harvesting and setting up my computer for it was a breeze using tips I learned in this book. It cut the time I spend and the frustration I was experiencing doing it by a considerable amount. I recommend this book for anyone who needs help with using Firefox.
⭐This reference guide, written by Blake Ross, co-creator of the Firefox browser, presents a step-by-step guide helpful to new and experienced users alike, covering bookmarking, browsing with tabs, blocking pop-up ads, tailoring toolbars, and many other topics. I keep this guide within easy reach whenever I am using my computer. Highly recommended!
⭐I just downloaded Firefox ver. 37.0.2. I have this book but it isn’t as easy to read for a newbie as I had hoped. Plus it was written in 2006, so directions telling a person to click on this & click on that do not work. The book is probably out of date. Nothing new has been printed since 2012 which is ancient history in the computer world. I will fumble through. I was a user of Netscape long ago & loved it.
⭐Ordered for my husband
⭐Excellent source for all info regarding usage of Firefox. Clear and concise. The book has resolved many, many questions in the use of Firefox.
⭐This was for my mother and for whatever reason she was not interested. She did not like thinking life was all about the computer. But I personally like how “Books for Dummies” are written, They are easy to understand and are not like your typical tech manuals,.
⭐A useful resource item.
⭐This is definitely a hands-on book. Blake Ross is a co-editor of Fierfox. He has an intimate knowledge of this web browser. Surprisingly, he writes in a clear, easily understood style. He starts out showing basic ideas about Firefox and moves to more advanced subjects such as tabbing, bookmarking in folders, etc. Anything you want to do with Firefox is written in a step-wise manner, so you get the results you want.
⭐The Author, Blake Ross, describes the Firefox web browser in a clear, helpful style. As one of the original developers of the program, he is able to explain how the features work and also why they were presented in that way. He includes an interesting history of how Firefox was started as a free alternative to Microsoft’sInternet explorer.A beginner on Firefox will find in the book an good introduction to organizingbookmarks (called favorites by Microsoft). Although Firefox is compact and fast there is a section on downloading extensions (extra programs) to customize it for each user. The book covers every aspect of Firefox as well as a section on avoiding hackers and has two concise Appendices on the menus and Keyboard shortcuts.
