Reviews from Amazon users which were colected at the time this book was published on the website:
⭐The advice in here killed my ferret! Just kidding!!! He’s fine. He’s sleeping comfortably in that picture.I got a ferret sort of by accident with absolutely no experience, no friends who have ferrets, nothing. And now, thanks to this book, my baby is thriving. It’s everything you need to know to take care of a ferret, as well as some advice on where to get ferrets and how to know if a ferret is right for you.I recommend this book for new ferrents (that’s ferret parents), for lifelong ferret lovers who sometimes need a reference, for people thinking about getting a ferret, basically for anyone who has anything to do with ferrets.
⭐This contains a wealth of good information well written. It has a reputation as being the “Ferret Bible” and this is probably deserved. I won’t go on about it’s merits, i just want to note a couple odd omission: There is no unified list of basic supplies. You have to read each chapter and write your own. I’m not sure if this is a shortcoming or a design decision to keep people from ‘cheating’ But it is occasionally annoying when you just want to quickly refer to something like what kinds of litter are appropriate. There is also occasional vagueness, for example while food bowls and water bottles are mentioned you won’t find any recommendation about what size to get. Nor in all the extensive material about diet could I find any mention of how much they do or should eat, either by weight, volume or calorie requirements.Good but not perfect. I hope someday they make a third edition.
⭐This is such an amazing book for not only care, but for reference. It’s great to have on hand and answers so many questions. It really goes into depth but makes everything easy to understand. It also has recipes in it which is really nice. I love the fact that it goes into nutrition thoroughly and actually teaches you what is best for a ferret. Most books don’t go into detail about nutrition or give the wrong information. Highly recommend this book!
⭐Great book. Been reading it with my 9 year old. Nothing you cant find out on the internet but I sometimes prefer to have things in front of me on paper. We’ve bookmarked a few chapters that may be helpful in future. He also enjoys the photos.
⭐I bought this because I was thinking about getting ferrets and it had a tremendous amount of information that has been so helpful. Sure, you can find a lot of info just by searching the internet, but it is nice to have all the basics bound together in a nice book. I would recommend this to anyone thinking about getting ferrets or those who would like to learn what they’re all about.
⭐If you are considering getting a ferret I highly recommend this book. I have had a ferret in the past but still went ahead and got this book figuring a lot may have changed since I had mine about 20 years ago. Back then there was hardly anything out there for them. Now there is an endless supply of food choices, toys, shampoos, everything. This book is extremely helpful with sorting out what to look for in your food choice for your new ferret. She goes over several types of diets and the pros and cons. It gives a clear picture of what you need to decide on before you bring your new baby home. Everything from foods, toys, cages, first aid kits, she even covers common health issues to ferrets. In my opinion a must have for anyone new to ferrets.
⭐I knew practically nothing about ferrets when I purchased this book and by the time I was done reading it, I felt very informed and well educated about the animal in general and the animal as a pet. Well written in easy to understand language. I highly recommend it if you are considering getting a ferret as a pet. Comprehensive and even a little entertaining.
⭐Bought this book before I got my ferrets and it helped a ton. I didn’t read it page for page, mostly skimmed it but I still use it when facing a new question about my two ferrets. It’s broken up into easy to find categories and is organized very well.
⭐I brought this my parents who, to be honest, are clued up a great deal on ferrets, yet funnily enough they found some details they were surprised not to know about. They come back to it like a bible if either is unsure about elements on a ferrets/polecats health or wellbeing.Sure you can type a question into Google about ferrets and get the answer, but this author seems fully enthusiastic and passionate in his research on ferrets, which goes to say some of the moronic things people post on the internet about them.So to me, a book which pretty much details all outlines of ferrets in a cute pet name manner is reliable to the hard stone replies of a stranger on the net – plus you don’t need internet to turn a page!
⭐I’m really interested in getting a ferret at sometime in the future,And wanting to be a responsible owner with an animal I’ve never had before made me decide to buy this book. And I can honestly say that I’m glad I did,It tells me everything that I could ever want to know about the care of these little animals. From their history and origin to their diet and first aid care and beyond!!!!I won’t be buying a ferret until I have fully read and understood this book about them,And I know what I’m getting myself into.I would highly recommend this book to anyone wanting to have one of these amazing little creatures.
⭐Concise, clear and compelling and also amusing and in some places comforting, stuffed with facts and advice. one of the best pet care books i’ve had the pleasure of reading. it is so so helpful be it for educating yourself about fuzzies. you will not regret getting this book.
⭐Straightforward, easy to read guide to ferrets as pets. Particularly useful are sections dealing with illness and how to nurse and feed an ill ferret, a poo chart which can tell you whats going on inside your friend and how to tell if your ferret is in pain as they tend to hide it till too late. There is a discussion of raw food diet versus dried food diet and how to change over. Also descriptions of common ferret behaviour and training techniques. There is nothing in here about hunting with ferrets, but mine are pets anyway. A good book about this is James McKays Complete Guide to Ferrets who obviously has their welfare at heart.
⭐I loved reading this! Its a must have for all ferret owners new or old. It has information about everything you need to know about your ferrets. If its not in this book its probably not important. It explains everything thoroughly and is a delight to read. Even if you simply use it as a reference book it really is a must have for ferret owners
