Reviews from Amazon users which were colected at the time this book was published on the website:

⭐This book is a good weekend read for the professional that has experience in programming, but wants to learn VBA. There is nearly no “computer science theory” stuff, and the author just gets down to what Excel VBA can and can’t do.DO NOT get this book unless you are already familiar with control structures, conditionals, and a bit of OOP. The author assumes you are comfortable with those, and more or less discusses the VBA-based implementation of these concepts

⭐Lots of examples of coding, which I find most helpful just seeing how things work.I didn’t read the book straight through, but skimmed and skipped what I knew and jumped about to suit my needs. It increased my productivity and employ-ability as well. Many people know Excel basics but VBA macros make you stand out.I suppose 2007 is going away, but the fundamentals still work. Glad I got this.Larry NocellaAuthor of the novel, The Katrina Contract, available on Amazon

⭐I’ve been using Excel for years now and got into using the macro recorder, then I started googling random ideas to find code on how to do this or that. It was then that I realized I needed something to take it to the next level. This book I think does that job well.As a non-programmer, this book is quite useful. The author gives many short examples of code. However, if you’re like me and learn by doing things, then I’d suggest having a computer with Excel handy, so you can test out the coding yourself to get a better sense of how things work.I can see that this is not the end all of VBA, but rather a first book to read and not a bad one. But for a beginner level, I think this is reasonably good. He even has a few corny jokes thrown in for good measure.

⭐I love Excel. This is one of the few software that actually holds the test of time and keeps seeming to get better. But, getting better also means getting more complicated. This is what makes the “For Dummies” series so valuable. I can say that it would be nice if they added in interactive modules for download or created special forums for those of us who purchase this product to bounce ideas and questions around.

⭐I know nothing about VBA. That is until I started reading this book. Its incredibly great! It takes you step by step and slowly builds up your knowledge of VBA as it relates to Excel. It doesn’t assume you are a dummy by any means. In fact when you are done with the book you will be anything but! If you need a good introduction to VBA then this is the book for you. The author is down to earth and the text is very readable!

⭐This book was exactly what I was looking for, helped me finish a work project ( works for excel 2013 as well). Was delivered in a reasonable amount of time – not terribly speedy, but good enough. Lightly used, but perfect for my needs. Very happy with my purchase.

⭐I have only Matlab programming background, but the book’s organization give an excellent introduction to how to design Macros. I sought most of my coding guidance from Stackoverflow.com. I’d say that skimming through the book before coding was of huge help in knowing what type of tools to use and the organization of macros.

⭐I went through this book in a few weeks time. It’s a great help for anyone looking to start in VBA for Excel 2007. The projects/examples were very helpful and I’ve used the ideas to expand on my own to help create some pretty IMO nifty little helpers to my excel sheets. There are surely many other books out there that claim to be good at this or that, but the dummy series puts a special spin on the way they present it that in no way makes you feel like a “Dummy”. I recommend this book to anyone starting out or for a semi experienced used who may just want a different perspective on the way to do things in VBA/Excel.

⭐Please don’t buy this book; I have (after I bought) seen several VBA books which seem betterThe author’s first example has a lot of code in it which is redundant and it is also a NOT a good introductory example. I didn’t know VBA a lot and even I managed to halve the lines by 50%!!!!!! Then, on top of that, he doesn’t follow up to explain what the lines of code mean. You would think that a dummies book would do this. This is why I got it. It IS A DUMMIES BOOK JOHN. Hello World would have been a better example. Then, a lot of repetition on the next few pages; people want something new, some meat and not a book with a few light-hearted jokes.Walkenbach sometime later advises on declaring variables. Why is this then not mentioned at the beginning of the bookHe re-introduces the macro recorder. This is fine, but why introduce it at the very beginning of the book (1st chapter) when a simple example should have beenHonestly, this book does have 2 stars and not one, because it does have some good usable code. What a waste of money. Would be nice if Amazon would let us view more of the book rather than just the contents and the indexCost: 17 quid. You can get ones for 7.93, 8.90. The more expensive ones are 16.89 and 25 quid and do you know what they give me to trade this book in? 1 pound. Ha ha ha ha ha.

⭐Yes amusing but very informative and I used it as a tool to instruct excel users on how VBA simple programs could be utilised using the “developer “tab in Microsoft Office Suites. The way the author introduces you to each program was amusing and contained useful tips. It’s not the auricle as you do need some experience in basic VB programming to understand it fully.

⭐It does what it says on the cover but it does make unnecessarily hard work to digest in such tiny, unrelated portions. However it will, eventually, resolve my problem and at a price that was extremely attractive compared to recommended selling price. Delivery from Amazon was, as is usual, excellent and free.

⭐Most dummies guides are generally good at what they aim to achieve, this one is no exception. Shame about VBA itself though, and it has returned as a disease vector, lots of spam now contains malicious VBA code. See […]

⭐Got the book within three days and it was package well and in good condition.Could not wait to start using the examples and it did not disappoint.Have not but it down let, but I would use the Internet as well I found a lot of help and advice out there too.
