User’s Reviews

Reviews from Amazon users which were colected at the time this book was published on the website:

⭐Ray Bradbury’s stories always take time to seep into your mind. Once read, they transmogrify into metaphor, then, one day, they slap you in the face and explain themselves to you in an “Aha!” moment. Take one of Bradbury’s earlier tales, “The Toynbee Convector,” from the book of the same title. It seems a harmless little exercise until you wake up at 3 a.m. and realize that this profound piece of literature is actually an blueprint for how to save and rebuild the world! And, citing Bradbury’s “We’ll Always Have Paris,” I recommend you start with “Pieta Summer,” another seemingly joyful exercise that will stun you, make you cry, and bring you face to face with yourself and all the small and large incidents in your life that remain unresolved. In one line, Bradbury metaphorically apologizes to the universe, on your behalf! Read Ray Bradbury slowly and carefully. There is not one line in his works that isn’t multi-layered, multi-textured, multi-metaphorical. Each story re-read will bring forth new levels of meaning. This is the author of a lifetime.

⭐Although these offerings were penned later on in his lifetime I would consider these stories on par with any other period during his prime. Earlier reviews may have suggested that his age may be showing a bit but these stories are fresh, warm and human with plenty of that nostalgia for the present moment that never fails to pull you in. There are also some modern themes and experimentation that confirm his awareness for his artistic surroundings and issues which affect the modern day reader. You can probably pick up a copy for a song and I would urge the reluctant RB fan to do just that…you may just rate these stories as some of his best.

⭐I am a fan of author Ray Bradbury, having read and taught his fiction. I love how he dances with phrases, twirling words about the page. I found classic Bradbury in these stories of relationships, longing, and human nature, but oftentimes I felt if these stories were debris not ready for publication but thoughts to be further formed. If you are a Bradbury fan, you’ll forgive the shortcomings of this collection. If you haven’t read his work, don’t start here.

⭐WE’LL ALWAYS HAVE PARIS is described on the dust-jacket as “a new collection of never-before-published stories … with prose that soars and sings.” Puhleeze! This volume should never have gone to print. It’s composed of short stories – some very short – that author Ray Bradbury perhaps culled from yellowed composition books surviving from high school and/or college days (Writing Skills 1A).The twenty-two offerings in this book generally run the gamut from amateurish (“Ma Perkins Comes to Stay”) to incomprehensible (“Doubles”) to just plain stupid (“Pater Caninus”). For me, most of them fell into the Why Bother? category. The one stab at science fiction, “Fly Away Home”, while containing a good concept at its core, is hopelessly outdated. Only one, “Arrival and Departure”, is passably intriguing (3 stars). In it, an aged couple discovers that the monotonous comfort and familiarity that derive from forty-five years of marriage are not easily displaced.Publishers should resist the urge to trot-out old jottings for the purpose of milking the reading public for a few more dollars. You know those bins at the used-book stores marked “3 for $1”? WE’LL ALWAYS HAVE PARIS is best lumped there with the other bookshelf residue.

⭐As the author of

⭐, I appreciate stories that challenge my perception of reality. I’d never heard of this book before the day I bought it, but I knew I couldn’t go wrong with Ray Bradbury. So I gave it a whirl.I was captivated from the first page by Mr. Bradbury’s ability to weave words into tapestries that ignite the imagination. He takes seemingly ordinary events and transforms them into surreal, thought provoking landscapes with believable characters. His writing style creates urgency and piques your curiosity in a way that propels you through the book effortlessly.I thought the title, “We’ll Always Have Paris” was a strange choice. Other than that, it’s a great anthology!

⭐This anthology does not disappoint. Glad these were salvaged from his editor’s culls. Here, one finds an adult Bradbury; a narrator as diffident, dependable and kind as Chekhov.

⭐Be prepared for a different ride! Still a great read but often surprising in direction and tone. Just open your mind and enjoy.

⭐Wonderful short stories by the great sci-fi author Ray Bradbury. Many of them have an ironic twist; some are funny; all are wonderful. I highly recommend this book.

⭐As always ray Bradbury never disappoints with his short stories, just a shame that more of his books are not available for the kindle!

⭐It’s not a bad read, but it is not a page turner. The stories are a bit of a hit or miss.

⭐Bradbury is like a good old wine..This is a collection which demonstrates what kind of literary genious he indeed was!!!Bradbury is in love with life, and if you read his books, then you also will fall for it!!!Wonderful, amazing, and outstanding..I recommend it to the uttermost to all the readers with the inch for stunningly and beautiful written fiction!!!Let me put it this way, five stars are not nearly good enough..
