Reviews from Amazon users which were colected at the time this book was published on the website:
⭐I never turn down a chance to read a Woody Leonhard book and was delighted to find him writing on Windows 7. As always, this book is filled with easy to understand and follow suggestions for getting up to speed on Windows 7. As he suggests, the book is a manual, to be dipped into as needed rather than be read cover to cover. Despite that, I often find myself “just reading” because his style is so engaging and fun. He defuses frustration and prevents panic with his non-technical “technical” explanations and warnings when you need to be careful before trying something. This is an extremely valuable book for anyone wanting to know more about Windows 7, from the basics to expert advice. I discovered Woody via his equally helpful “Woody’s Lounge” (now “Windows Secrets”). I liked the breezy style in his on-line forum and it is in this book as well.
⭐I bought the Kindle version of the book one month ago and tried to use it to learn Windows 7. The author continuously references other chapters that gave additional information, but I couldn’t jump directly to that location. Instead I had to go to the table of content and go through the 36 pages to try to find what I was looking for. That is a long and confusing process. After less than a week I bought a paper version of this book which is a snap to jump around compared to the Kindle version. The hard copy also has an index at the back with page numbers for a particular subjects. The book itself is fairly informative except I personally think the author jumps around too much and includes too much non essential information.
⭐This is a fairly complete book that works better as a reference for someone who needs to get into details rather than as an introduction. Unfortunately the choices as to what should be in and out don’t particularly match my needs. For example, I am beginning to use Windows Media Center for the first time, and it just doesn’t go deeply enough. It certainly doesn’t help me find additional resources. Another example is programs that run when you start up. Not nearly enough on how to find out what they are and either add or remove them. Could go on, but the point is it doesn’t seem to match my needs as well as I had hoped.
⭐On the 17 April 2010 I purchased the windows 7 all-in-one for dummies. The reason for me buying this book was:1. Previously I had a windows xp computer, and then a windows vista omputer.2. I bought the yellow book for dummies for the windows xp, then the one for windows vista. Whenever I had aproblem I went to this book, and it never let me down.3. From what I read about the new windows 7 with all its bells and whistles I knew I needed somethingthat I could rely on, and so for the book windows 7 all-in-one for dummies has done this.I highly recommend this book.
⭐As in all of the “…For Dummies” series of books, this title remains true to the series’ reputation of being “simple, yet informative”. I was pleasantly surprised with the scope of subjects included in the book, which is aimed toward a reader audience that has little or no previous knowledge of the Microsoft Windows 7 operating system. Very easy to follow, and interspersed with little bits of humor (there is a cartoon at the beginning of each chapter), I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who has just changed their computer’s operating system to Windows 7, or anyone who has basically no knowledge of computers. Senior citizens especially will find this publication to be very easy to grasp, and a valuable tool towards becoming a member of the “cyber age”. With 862 pages, this softcover edition bills itself as being “8 Books In 1”, referencing the 8 divisions/topics included in the book which cover 8 facets of Windows 7 useage. If you are looking for a technical/programming guide for Windows 7, I would not recommend this book. But if you are looking for a great “getting started with Windows 7” book, then this one’s for you!
⭐I liked the organization, clarity, and comprehensive information in this huge volume. Get it .Tip: You will need to keep a highlighter handy, because the info you may wish to consult later is often buried inside a paragraph without any heading that might aid you to find it again.Dummies books are always humorous, but the author’s light touch is much appreciated; i.e., the jokes are not as lame as later volumes by different writers. Thanks Woody.
⭐This is a great book for any owner of a PC with the Win 7 operating system. I love this operating system and this book helps me learn all about it. I highly recommend it for anyone that wants to learn more about the Win 7 OS. It really is like owning seven books in one.Overall, an excellent book to keep on hand or give as a gift.
⭐I first took this book out from the Library. After reading about 2 chapters I ordered it from Amazon. It is so helpful and I am learning so much. The author Woody Leonhard is a hoot and he makes things very clear with his writing style and the graphics that are included. Wish I had done this for Windows XP. Well worth the money. I’ll be using this book for a very long time.
⭐I bought this because I migrated to Windows 7 from xp and was totally confused by it. This is a much bigger book than expected, consequently difficult to hold while reading.I expected this to be a quick reference book, but the index isn’t that useful; the detailed contents page is better. However, it’s a great book for browsing, just make sure you put book marks in anything you want to refer to later. If you find yourself needing help NOW, it’s hard to find the info you need quickly. The order of the information is illogical in my opinion. One of the first things I like to do with a computer is mess around with the display, customise the menus etc, yet the information required to do this doesn’t appear until Book 3, page 225.Despite all these issues, this Dummies book contains everything you need to know about Windows 7, and some basic stuff you probably don’t need to know. For this reason I’d recommend it.
⭐Good.
⭐This book is really helpful for learning about Windows 7 and Windows in general. The book is well set out and the descriptions of problems are good, as well as the solutions.I would recommend this book to any one using Windows 7.
⭐Over 850 pages devoted to windows 7., written in a language that most people can understand this book is a must for theinexperienced
⭐Great quality item delivered on time
