User’s Reviews

Reviews from Amazon users which were colected at the time this book was published on the website:

⭐It is impossible to find a well written and organized book on the subject of combinatorics. This one may be the best available, but it is far from an excellent text. The complexity of problems rapidly progress with a small number of example problems being explained. The explanations are terse and don’t readily give rise to enlightenment. The first chapter is 50 pages long and it encompasses many complex concepts most of which are disparate. By the time the student has worked through the chapter to start the example problems, may of the concepts are forgotten. The overall subject matter is fascinating and more students would likely choose to study it if only the experts in the field were more adept at conveying the subject via a well crafted textbook.

⭐Very technical, and far from comprehensive. A little easier to understand than other technical books, but only covers a small portion of a large subject.

⭐I was looking for a book for self-study and went through surveying number of popular choices. I found this book really stands out from the rest for its excellent organization and thorough step-by-step guidance of each topic. When reading this book, the individual topics start to make a lot of sense. From a beginner on the topic – very much recommended for other beginners.

⭐I was impressed with the lucid prose that made complex concepts accessible to the novice student of AIME and olympiad problems.

⭐I bought this book as a CS student to bolster my knowledge of manipulating sets and obtaining combinations, for use in programming, since this is probably one of my weakest areas of skill in mathematics. Everything you could possibly need to know about combinatorics is in this book. It is extremely clear, well-written, and there are plenty of examples that really help to connect the principles to real-world applications.

⭐This book has a good choice of topics and examples in combinatorics. The explanations are clear. There are many interesting exercises. However, the quality of the printing is quite bad; the resolution is low and the words are fuzzy.

⭐Very well written, nicely laid out book! Easy to follow examples throughout and it follows a nice progression through a wide variety of concepts. It also includes a lot of good practice problems for each chapter. A different (bad) book was required for a class. Several of us adopted this book as our go-to book instead. I can’t say enough good things about it. Highly recommend!

⭐This is a great book and I am very happy I purchased it. The examples/explanations are very clear and there are many practice problems to work on. I definitely recommend if you have an interest in the subject.

⭐Present, so havent had a comment yet

⭐Doing any kind of maths especially olympiad maths , I think the most important thing is to train your mind HOW TO THINK ? This book fulfils this role . It provides help where it is needed and at the same time does not spoon feed concepts . Recommend from 9th grade onwards for average students preparing for maths olympiads or just learning some beautiful maths .

⭐This is the most professional book of it’s kind. I strongly recommend this book to those who want to build your Mathematics. This book is not needed for those who want to score marks.

⭐Beautiful book for those who are interested in combinatorics. A must for international maths olympiad aspirants.

⭐Such an amazing book for combi, I know there are many useful theorems along proofs, I generally selected this book for reoccurrence relations and now I’m in love with all the other chapters too. Just go for it, it is worth your money and time.
