He has a PhD from Rutgers University and a BA from Western. His main philosophical interests are in metaphysics, ethics, and the philosophy of language. He has published articles in many journals, including Mind, Noûs , and Philosophical Quarterly . He is also co-editor of Metametaphysics (Oxford University Press, 2008). Apart from philosophy, Ryan spends most of his time playing with his son, Benjamin, and his daughter, Zoë Mae.Daniel Howard-Snyder is Professor of Philosophy at Western Washington University, where he has taught since 2000. ⭐Great textbook

⭐The first word that comes to mind when attempting to summarize this book is “mediocre”. The book teaches a basic understanding of formal logic, but spreads it out over some five hundred pages (that’s excluding the answer key, index, etc) without going into greater detail about anything in particular – it’s simply too much fluff.What’s good about it? Many of the example provided by the book are very entertaining to work through. I often found myself laughing out loud at the examples and I think teaching logic in such a way makes this book worthwhile.This book explains the fundamental concepts within the subject of formal logic in a way that’s entertaining, humourous, and easy to get through, that’s where its value comes from. If you want a book that will make you laugh while teaching you about formal logic, this is the book for you. If you want something more dense but with less entertainment value I’d recommend Irving M. Copi’s “Symbolic Logic”, which is a much more concise (at about 150 pages) summary of the foundational principles of formal logic, or Mark Sainsbury’s “Logical Forms: An Introduction to Philosophical Logic”, which is an extremely thorough introduction to the topic.

⭐I had to buy this book for a logic course at my university. Like any student, I was less than thrilled to spend more money on textbooks. I promised myself this year that instead of letting them sit on my desk I would actually read them in order to get my money’s worth. This is the first textbook that has made me laugh out loud at some of its examples. From Harry Potter, to Star Wars, to Transformers, the references in this book make you forget that you are actually learning by using examples that most readers are already familiar with. This book is definitely worth the read and I recommend it. I am a Computer Science major and just needed this book for a semester so I rented instead of buying. This book is very helpful in teaching the subject and will give many laughs along the way.

⭐This really is a wonderful textbook, I wish that more authors would follow this format. The examples are clever (some are downright funny) and the author does an excellent job of introducing and explaining new material. Due to some health issues over the past semester, I missed nearly 4 weeks of class. Thanks to this textbook, I was able to get an A on my final exam and a B overall for the class.

⭐The book arrived reasonably quick and in ‘okay’ condition for what I paid. However, my professor who helped write the book doesn’t do any better of a job presenting the material in his class than the book does. Both are very confusing and hard to follow, you’ll need a lot of help from google to teach yourself (unless your prof is better than mine). Wouldn’t ever recommend taking Intro To Logic with Daniel Howard-Snyder.

⭐I bought this book for school. The book is very complete and has a lot of exercices (with answers on the back). The only reason why I didn’t put 5 stars is besause of his price.

⭐Book is in excellent conditions and it arrived very quickly!As for its content, it is clear, examples are plentiful, and a lot of the questions have answers conveniently located at the back of the book. Wonderful way to learn logic.

⭐Needed this textbook for my philosophy class, and it’s good. Superb that it was in an ebook so I wouldn’t have to carry around a textbook in my backpack.
