Description
This book provides a comprehensive and self-contained exposition of gravitational lensing phenomena. It presents the up-to-date status of gravitational lensing and microlensing, covering the cosmological applications of the observed lensing by galaxies, clusters and the large scale structures, as well as the microlensing searches in the Local Group and its applications to unveil the nature of the galactic dark matter, the search for planetary objects and the distribution of faint stars in our galaxy.Gravitational Lensing and Microlensing is pitched at the level of the graduate student interested in the issues of astrophysics and cosmology, and should be useful for specialist researchers as well.
User’s Reviews
Reviews from Amazon users which were colected at the time this book was published on the website:
⭐Despite its “small” size (by modern textbooks standards), this book provides a comprehensive treatment of Gravitational Lensing, and does it not only with the right technical rigor, ,but with enough explanations that even a non-technical person (a relativist enthusiast with some advanced calculus knowledge) can follow and learn from. One of the best books on this topic; highly recommended.
⭐Does anyone know why this book is so expensive? I need a copy at a reasonable price. I am studying this subject Thanks..Terry
⭐This book is a perfect presentation about gravitational lensing. It is complete and pedagogical description. The authors go into detail but without loosing the non-experts that are trying to understand these effects and processes. I strongly recommend it.
