⭐Heat and ThermodynamicsBy Mark. W. Zemansky and Richard H. DittmanSixth Edition, HardcoverSize (Roughly): 24 x 16.5 x 3 centimetersBought two of the same from:1. Book sold by “Jenson Books Inc” on Amazon.Announced in “Acceptable” condition with the next description: This item shows wear including moderate wear to edges and cover and excessive highlighting or writing.2. Book also sold by “Jenson Books Inc” on AmazonAnnounced in “Acceptable” condition with the next description: This item shows wear including a gift inscription or name, some highlighting or writing, moderate wear to edges and cover, and the dust jacket is missing. As the physical book, both of them matched the description given by the seller. The second one I purchased as a gift for a collage. The content of the book itself it’s excellent. single handedly the best book on classical thermodynamics. It was used at the undergraduate level.Again, good experience with this seller. A perfect book on thermodynamics, recommended.

⭐This 5th edition is by far superior than the other editions. New editions are not as good as this 5th edition. This is the best book on thermodynamics for Physics students. Statistical mechanics is not so good but language & presentation is easier to understand. Language of book & mathematics used is very easy & lucid. Feeling very sad that why such best book of thermodynamics by Mark W Zemansky went out of print. One must buy it if anyone want very deep & through knowledge of thermodynamics.

⭐I used this book in my undergraduate thermodynamics/statistical mechanics course. I found it to be quite good. It’s fairly easy to read and provides enough detail to give the reader a good understanding of the material. The exercises are challenging enough to be useful, but not so difficult as to leave the reader feeling hopeless. I don’t recall coming across many (if any) errors in the text or in the solutions. Perhaps the other reviewers who found lots of problems simply didn’t understand how to arrive at the correct answer.

⭐This book is fairly difficult. Experience with integral calculus is definitely recommended. Knowledge with partial derivatives is a must. The beginning chapters are more conceptual matters than mathematics regarding the chapter problems. There is not a large number of problems per chapter either.

⭐I can confirm the comments of several other readers that complained of too many errors in the text. Every time the author calculates reversible boundary work he either makes a sign error or gets the limits of integration reversed. This is inexcusable in the 7th edition of a text. At least the inclusion of an Errata sheet would have been in order.

⭐Book was exactly what I expected.

⭐Great book, the chapter about negative Kelvin temperatures is a jewel. One of the best books of applied thermodynamics. Great classic.

⭐This book is a small and compact book compared to recent thermodynamics textbooks for engineering. The style of the book definitely shows its age. Recent pedagogical trend adopts a friendly tone in writing. There should be a summary of key concepts and keywords at the beginning of the chapter, numerous examples and checkpoints throughout the text, and a clear summary at the end of each chapter. The end result of new textbooks is that they are thicker than a bible and heavier than a brick. This older style textbook by Zemansky represents a textbook from the previous generation. The discussion is more formal and concise. It might be a bit tough sometimes if the student does not have the background knowledge as assumed by the authors. I think it is a decent book information wise. It just feels a bit old. If you want a physics presentation of heat and thermodynamics, this book is not a bad read with if you do not mind the older style. The odd thing about this book is that statistical mechanics is put in the section of applications. And only one chapter on statistical mechanics does not make it clear. I bet the intention is that the author wants to discuss specific heats in the next chapter as an application, and they need statistical mechanics. Overall, I think the book can choose better applications for the second part of the book. For example, the discussion on the critical behavior of He-3 and He-4 is a bit too much in my opinion.

⭐One of the best book of physics. However, in the last edition, the part about negative Kelvin temperatures is missing. Why?

⭐Good book but spends too much time on basic thermodynamics

⭐This is joke! I ordered the american edition ( Mcgraw-Hill College; 7th edizione 1997) but I received a Indian edition (8th) instead, written for eastern universities (adapted by.

⭐I write this review just to advice other possible clients on the complete incapacity of the company Fast media ‘Navi USA’. As a matter of fact I have bought the Zemansky from them but I have never received it because it has been lost during the travel! Moreover I have not been advised of the fact and just two months after my purchase, after having sent an email, I have been advised on the fact I would have never received my book. If I had not written the email and asked for my product I would have never known anything and , moreover, I would have experienced a fraud from Fast MEDIA. I thus strongly advise you not to buy any product from FAST MEDIA NAVI USA since it will never arrive and you will receive just useless excuses (in very bad italian). Pay also attention to get back a refund when you will not receive your objects because I would not trust on such unqualified people. An experience not to be repeated.
