⭐Thermodynamics is for metallurgy and for materials science in general one of its pillars; a core subject-matter that works as a backbone. Unfortunately, and as many authors have recognized, not a few difficulties must be faced in the development of a textbook capable to transmit in a concise and clear manner the application of classical thermodynamics/thermal physics concepts to some materials science topics.This a book that defies these difficulties, where the author offers a very amiable text to grasps first, “brick by brick”, the thermodynamics concepts that apply later to board some topics related to the development of microstructural architectures. The ideas transmitted are assisted by many practical worked examples and by very good and original graphical information (the intention to transmit the last and simple physical meaning of the exposed theory seems to be always present). These features make it to be considered also as a very good option for teaching.While few covered topics left the “feeling of little taste”, the read of the reference material cited serves to expand and to solidificate the core ideas.Without doubt, this is a recommendable book where to look for the application of thermodynamics and its general concepts to this very particular topic that is the microstructural development in materials.
