Description

From the world’s #1 body language expert* comes the essential book for decoding human behavior Joe Navarro has spent a lifetime observing others. For 25 years, as a Special Agent for the FBI, he conducted and supervised interrogations of spies and other dangerous criminals, honing his mastery of nonverbal communication. After retiring from the bureau, he has become a sought-after public speaker and consultant, and an internationally bestselling author. Now, a decade after his groundbreaking book What Every BODY is Saying, Navarro returns with his most ambitious work yet. The Dictionary of Body Language is a pioneering “field guide” to nonverbal communication, describing and explaining the more than 400 behaviors that will allow you to gauge anyone’s true intentions.Moving from the head down to the feet, Navarro reveals the hidden meanings behind the many conscious and subconscious things we do. Readers will learn how to tell a person’s actual feelings from subtle changes in their pupils; the lip behaviors that betray concerns or hidden information; the many different varieties of arm posturing, and what each one means; how the position of our thumbs when we stand akimbo reflects our mental state; and many other fascinating insights to help you both read others and change their perceptions of you.Readers will turn to The Dictionary Body Language again and again—a body language bible for anyone looking to understand what their boss really means, interpret whether a potential romantic partner is interested or not, and learn how to put themselves forward in the most favorable light.*GlobalGurus.org

User’s Reviews

Reviews from Amazon users which were colected at the time this book was published on the website:

⭐This book is a useful field guide for understanding body language. In his conclusion Joe makes a valid point; non-verbals are very important even in a digital age & are extremely beneficial for those who lead. What I’ve learned in this book has been instrumental in my day to day interactions with my family, friends, associates and clients. The key is to practice observing what is explained.

⭐Very informative, well written and absolutely fascinating! I, too, grew up watching behaviors and that continues to this day. I would love to sit down with Joe Navarro, because I have so many questions! Thank you so very much for sharing your knowledge with us.Charlene in San Diego

⭐This is exactly what it sells itself as. Most of these are pretty obvious, but there’s a fair bit of experience coming through in the book that makes it clear the author is speaking as an authority.Good book for adults navigating the workplace and for kids learning about the depths of body language complexities.

⭐Interesting book. Helps you learn about specific postures and meanings. I should have bought the book discussing body language first.

⭐I love the easy-to-follow format. The Dictionary of Body Language precisely explores key non-verbal signals in a digestible manner for the reader. I especially appreciated the tips for analyzing multiple variables rather than a cookie-cutter tactic. Two thumbs up and I would recommend this book to anyone; non-verbal communication is essential in any field. I look forward to reading more works by the author soon.

⭐I like to know the facts about peoples body movements this book does just that

⭐Excelente

⭐Easy to understand and follow. Great for teaching a class and for reference.

⭐Fascinating little book describing a vast assortment of things that can be unconsciously communicated through our movements and expressions. Based on Western world people behaviour (concretely US citizens), but it includes some interesting notes about certain variations in other cultures. Besides, much of it refers to automatic responses, which tend to be universal.

⭐The book explain a lot of postures and break many myths.A must have for those who do interviews and think they can read body language.Crossed arms is not as negative as we were told in the early 90’s.Well made and simple to understand, I will re-read several times to keeps it fresh in my mind.

⭐It truly is set up like a field book. Some of the observation points are pretty obvious, some are intuitive but most are ah-hah moments. It’s a fun and useful read.

⭐Arrived as expected. Very interesting read, still reading it , not finished yet. I would have loved illustrations but that’s just me…
