Reviews from Amazon users which were colected at the time this book was published on the website:
⭐This is a very good book for those who know already differential equations and may want to use it to brush up on applications. If you need to use it as a text book and if you have a good professor that explain concepts well, this book may be useful as a reference and supplemental material. But if you are trying to learn differential equations on your own, using this book will prove to be a huge challenge. It suffers from the same issue like many other text books: it is written for those who already know the materials. At the beginning of every chapter there are presented theoretical concepts in a very dense and hard to understand manner. Then the few examples that follow are not wisely chosen. Instead of choosing one simple example that highlights exactly what was just presented, they give some confusing and complicated examples that are a challenge to solve on their own without the new concepts. Another issue I found is that many examples are not worked out completely and don’t show all the steps involved on solving which assumes that the reader already knows those concepts. Finally, one of the most annoying things is when the author points back one or two chapters to a specific exercise and continues with some concepts just introduced but without writing again that previous exercise, so one doesn’t know what they are talking about without going back to find that specific page.Overall I found this book hard to follow, fragmented and all around frustrating. Some people are good at math, but not good at teaching math.I suffered through this book for a while, but finally I bought the two volumes of Differential & Integral Calculus by Courant and I find myself flipping though them to get the gist of what this book attempts to teach.
⭐This is a very, very informative textbook. The major reason I got this book, however, was because it was required for the course. I’m glad I have it, because it is a helpful study tool and without it i would definitely be failing. As a note: Most of the homework is very similar to the 10th edition, but some of the numbers are different. My instructor gave us the assignments in terms of 10th edition numbers upon request, so many students saved money by getting the previous edition.I would highly recommend asking your teachers if they could do that and maybe save yourself some money
⭐as far as textbooks go, this one is pretty good. easier to follow than my calculus book with good examples
⭐The previous edition is basically the same as this edition, as with all text books the problems may be rearranged. I really enjoyed the tenth edition as it was a light book to carry but it explained everything perfectly where you can understand each and every topic covered in a semester of Differential Equation rather than simply solving problems for a letter grade. I loved DE because of this author.
⭐Over price, but cannot put a price on your education… or could you! College says different.
⭐I’m taking Diff Eq for the first time, online. The professor hasn’t transitioned to online well, so I’m mostly having to teach myself. This text has shown not to be the best when it comes to explaining things conceptually. It is notation heavy, and the examples are overly complicated and hard to follow. If I wasn’t forced to buy this book for homework, I would be just fine using online videos and other non-assigned books.
⭐Its a math book.. so I guess it was nice
⭐Honestly, buy the 7th edition for $5 and you’ll have an easier book to read with almost the exact same problem sets and progression.
⭐This is the wrong book
⭐Bonjour, le problème que le livre n’est pas neuf. Que j’ai pas aimé
