⭐Great book on the history of inverse probability if you are pretty good in French and Latin – otherwise you miss almost all of la Grange, Laplace, Poisson, Condorcet, etc. as the extensive quotes are from the original texts. I realize we are all supposed to know 18th century French but it’s just that American thing getting in the way. I wonder if the author knew enough Russian to look at Kolmogorov?
