⭐Habib simplifies the most difficult concepts. I used to great advantage this semester. Most highly recommended for anyone delving into lit theory.

⭐If you are interested in literary theories, this is the book to start with. Presented in a very clear and chronological manner, this book gives a comprehensive view of the development of literary theory and of different schools of thought from Antiquity to modern times. It provides the reader with a solid understanding of how Western thought was shaped throughout the centuries. It fails to fully acknolwledge non-western contributors (a small passage about Ibn Rushd is found but not more), that’s why I gave it a 3 star. Still, a very useful tool!

⭐Great for advanced academic purposes, not light reading. Very detailed and thorough
