⭐First let me set the context of the review. I am not a math whiz kid. I have a very strong interest in mathematics I just don’t have the facility that I have seen in others.Now that being said I used this book as an upper level undergarduate course in Advanced Calculus. The book expects a lot of mathematical maturity and did not offer any real insights to me. As a consequence I did find myself having to constantly refer to other calculus texts to get an understanding of what Kaplan was explaining. As a resource for learning Advanced Calculus and gaining insight I find it useless, though it is quite useful as a reference.

⭐The Kaplan book is direct, concise, and well-organized. In general, I liked it.However, some of Kaplan’s explanations were a bit TOO concise. In those cases, I found myself going back to

⭐– i.e., the second half of Stewart’s big calculus book, published separately so that you don’t get a hernia from carrying it around. If you grasp a point quickly, Kaplan is better; if you need more help, Stewart is better.One complaint: The Kaplan book is very cheaply bound. By the end of the semester, my copy was falling apart.

⭐I study this book entirely in a calculus review. The points are:1- The exposition is clear and didatic even in points difficults and delicates2- The sections are short and with exercises in growing level of dificulty with much adequates hints3- It’s necessary to resolve all (or half all) exercises because there are many new stuff there4- There are responses to all exercises with is good for self study (like mine)5- There are very litlle typos6- My only question is that the book would have more exercises(I supply this doing exercises of other books like M.Boas)So I recommend this book based in my (good) experience

⭐This is the absolute worst mathematics book that I have ever attempted to use. I would rather stick my head in a vise than try to learn anything from this book. Here are the four of the worst offenses:1. The book is not self-contained. One must constantly refer to other books to work the exercises. Write a complete book next time, jerk.2. If “mathy” were a word, it would describe this book. Where are the applications? You won’t find anything practical here. Boring!3. How about some examples? That would be nice. Unfortunately, examples are few and far between. Think water in the desert.4. How about some organization? Nope, you won’t find it in this book. It will lope along for several sections, then “Boom! Here are some random exercises. Good luck! I hope you’ve understood everything perfectly until now, cause this is comprehensive, baby!”This book is required for my class or otherwise I would throw it into a cesspool. When I’m finished with my class that’s just what I will do.

⭐I was satisfied with what I got. The book was in great shape for an old book. Definitely has many more years to go. Thumbs up.

⭐The textbook is completely falling apart. It arrived in this condition. The outer wrapper was not damaged. The cover looks fine, but the inside is falling apart and I’m not sure the book will last through the semester. We wanted to purchase this book, but will not be doing so in this condition. This textbook should not be in circulation for rent.

⭐It not a very well written book at all. Most of the example is very bad because they are mostly trivial. And you can find just about all the material in a calculus book and it general covered better. Also, some of the examples are wrong and has bad algebra. Overall a very poorly written book on calculus and not very helpful. Look somewhere else cause it is so poorly written and filled with too many errors. It makes me think that both the author and publisher were drunk and high while writing.

⭐It’s a fantastic book, a good continuation from a third semester calculus course.

⭐El libro no tiene escrito nada, ni se le ve gastado, pero esta muy oscuro y aparenta haber estado tienpo entre el polvo. Las páginas estan algo ennegrecidas.One of the best books out there, especially for those in undergrad physics, engineering or applied mathematics. A classic.
