User’s Reviews

Reviews from Amazon users which were colected at the time this book was published on the website:

⭐The concepts argumented in the book and the style of argumentation are beyond reasonable, but the overall wording is a tad hard to grasp at times.Phylosophy + the ability to clearly communicate = the ability to clearly communicate Phylosophycally, basicly.

⭐This is an EXTRAORDINARY EFFICIENT product for annihilating tiny (Pharaoh like) ants as well as all other kinds of this nasty pest.Every summer we fight with ants and are victorious, except against the tiny ones which like especially our kitchen and our food. I have tried other anti-ants products from supermarkets and on-line. Nothing worked against the tiny ants including all the popular RAID products (which ARE effective against larger ants) while, though RAID frankly states their uselessness against Pharaoh, in my wife’s desperation I still hoped that maybe… ).The relief came after I read on Amazon good references about this COMBAT cream, which was not on our local supermarkets shelves, and have ordered it from Amazon. The tiny ants disappeared as by magic after a week. We are now into the third summer month fully without ants, and I strongly RECOMMEND this cream to all in trouble.

⭐We are in 1748, Hume is defending the hypothesis that even when humans experience cause/effect our conclusions are NOT based on reasoning or understanding. What a STUPID species! Wait a second… there is a bit of hope. Given any text/article/book, he recommends two tests: a) does it contain abstract reasoning over quantity or numbers? b) does it contain any experimental reasoning over matter of fact? If NO for both, then burn the damn thing! Enlightening + delighting book.

⭐This book takes human understanding and picks it apart bit by bit, differing from reason and belief and connecting matter of fact with cause and effect, without which it would not exist. He also introduces customs and experience which can affect human actions and speaks on miracles and skeptics. It’s a great follow up read to the likes of Descartes, but one that requires a great amount of focus in order to fully digest what is being said.

⭐I recently read Outlines of Scepticism by Sextus Empiricus in order to gain a better understanding of the origins of modern skepticism. When I read Hume it felt like I was reading a direct sequel to Sextus’ classic (written around 200 AD). Hume has some harsh words about “superstition” but overall here he is more concerned with exploring “how we know things” rather than debunking any particular mythology or religion. If you want to challenge your own thought-life give Hume a try. As others have stated, this book is quite accessible.

⭐The copy I got is such a terrible example of printing/binding. No footnotes or anything either.Apparently, this is reworked from A Treatise of Human Nature; so I bought the wrong book. I found it repetitive too, so if you are interested in Hume maybe it makes more sense to read that book instead? Who knows.

⭐As a former philosophy major I remember reading this book 40 years ago. It was so well written that a reordered it and was not surprised that he won the Nobel prize in for this book in literature. But more importantly is that it truly revolutionized the field of philosophy and the especially philosophy of science.

⭐Writings concerning natural philosophy and science, reasoning mixed with emotions. The writing is quite dense for me, but I wouldn’t hesitate to read through it again.

⭐Was expecting a small and thicker looking book, but this turned out to be a very cheap looking print. Very thin and odd sized pages. Would recommend you find a different one. However, all content inside is just the same, so if its only the text that matters to you, then its great.

⭐One of the better books on Hume’s masterpiece, if you studying the subject of Philosophy, Hume is one of the ‘greats’ and this works needs to be read.

⭐Stimulating reading with really challenging ideas.

⭐Product received as described, seller reliable.

⭐Rational thought. If you’ve not read this you should, one of the great reviews of life.
