Reviews from Amazon users which were colected at the time this book was published on the website:

⭐Just tells you what you would be getting into if you want to program, not how to do any of it.

⭐i knew nothing about coding and this book was a very thorough overview of coding. after reading this book I wasn’t ready to go write a billion dollar app but it did explain a lot about how coding works and explained the difference languages used to code and their strengths and weaknesses. im still a noob but I no longer feel like a complete dummy when people talk about code.

⭐Really starts you off with the basics and works you up from there going over a lot of material without ever making it sound hard. Doesn’t teach you to code or anything. Instead it gives you something more important: it teaches you how all the pieces interact and why you need everything. Definitely worth the money.

⭐This book is a wonderful survey of beginning program yet it’s written for someone with no programming background. I highly recommend it!

⭐I am really enjoying this book, it has very good explanations from the bottom up to help you understand the principles of programming. I am a very logical person so when a book skips info, explains things out of order, etc, it can be confusing for me. But this book presents everything in a clear and logical order.

⭐This is a decent introduction to programming. There are a few misstatements and copy paste error. Any errors in this volume can be fixed with live code. The version I read was older and a little out of date, but it does the job I needed. It introduced me to many key vocabulary terms and concepts. It does not teach how to program, but introduces you to the topic.

⭐I purchased this for my 11yr old daughter who is into computer technology and always wants to know more about computers. She kinda grumbled when she received it, but I am already seeing results that she is reading and understanding it. I believe this is a great book if you want to know the ins and outs of computer programming.

⭐This is a really good book! Easy to understand for someone who has a good foundation in computer tech. Very helpful and useful.

⭐Programming for dummies.I already know a lot of code, I bought this really just to widen my knowledge. The book is absolutely huge, and it covers a lot of the basic code such as HTML and CSS which every programmer needs to know as that is the fundamental element of code. Because it is such a big book, it is sometimes hard for the brain to comprehend all the information which is being thrown at it. Eventhough it suggests this book is for beginners, I would recommend it to intermediates as it is a lot of info to take on board. It is however, good for references. If you forget some things, even the basic things which sometimes I do, it is great for quick references because all of the basics are in there. Hex codes, element code, it’s all there on hand whenever you need it.Overall, excellent for intermediate/higher level than beginner, not so good for beginners. For beginners, I recommend you buy HTML and CSS for dummies as that covers the absoloute barebones of coding. Again, this book is great for refrences.

⭐I am in the middle of reading this book. But can already say it’s a great read. It’s very informative. If you are unsure which computer language you would like or need to learn, this is the Book to read first before you decide.

⭐Great book – came very quickly. I haven’t done any programming for almost 30 years and it brought it all back very quickly and filled in the gaps as to ‘what has happened since’. The book is perhaps a little out of date already (published about 6 years ago hence only 4 stars) – but this is not a big issue for me as I was after an ‘overview’. What is especially good is the two main programming approaches (Modern Basics and the variations of C/C++/Csharp/Java ) are outlined in a reasonable way without getting bogged down in syntax issues.

⭐This is a great introduction to programming for people who don’t know anything or are curious about it. It explains all the points to have in consideration when writing code and to choose which language(s) to learn. The style is appropriate, well structured and easy to follow.

⭐An excellent informal introduction , though I did not read the whole book yet.
