Reviews from Amazon users which were colected at the time this book was published on the website:
⭐Back in the film days (dating myself) I used a slr and took zillions of photos. Then it got spendy and I got busy and end game in 1985. Now, 2019 I buy myself, at long last, a digital slr. How much can you forget? Lots. How much is new? Lots. So, back to photo school (camera school) I go with this book. Yahoo, lots came back, the theory part, but learning the fancy new camera, this will be an education all over again. I’m old now, let’s see if I can learn.
⭐I’m just getting started with photography, and the T1i is my first dSLR. I bought this book to not only understand the camera, but to understand the basic features of all dSLR’s, and how to shoot manually. This book has been invaluable on all fronts. I’ve had my camera and the book for a little over a year now, and when I first received it, I read almost the whole thing cover to cover. Of course, I didn’t retain everything, and so a year later, I’m still finding myself whipping out the book after a particularly frustrating shoot, or when I’ve got an idea to try something. I also like to thumb through it from time to time to refresh my memory. It is well written. The explanations are accompanied with visuals whenever possible. The instructions are short and sweet and in terms any one can understand. I haven’t bought a “Dummy” book in a decade probably, but this one is exactly what I was hoping for.In short, this is a fantastic companion to your Canon T1i. It is a valuable tool for both the camera specifically, and for your beginner needs.
⭐There are a couple other T1i books out there that I considered, and I don’t know if this one is necessarily better than the others, but I do like it. It explains things well, shows pictures of the camera when explaining something, and also shows example images. They also tell you their recommendations when faced with a choice of settings. I find it useful and helpful, especially if I have my camera in hand while reading it so I can try it out. I refer to it often to try to figure out new things with this camera. Wish I could tell you that this one is best of them all, but I don’t know that. I just know that I have found it very helpful to learn to use my T1i (my first dSLR!). While this book does offer some helpful photography information, if you need detailed information to learn how to do photography…that’s not what this book is for. This is to teach you the funtions of this specific camera. Scott Kelby has some really good digital photography books that teach you about photography in general…and there’s one called Understanding Exposure, by a different author, that’s also good. All available here on Amazon.
⭐I am a very casual photographer and to be honest I have very little experience with photography in general. I have had almost no experience with aperture or ISO. I bought the Canon EOS Rebel T1i/500D for Dummies simply because I wanted to learn more tricks and tips about the camera as well as how to change the camera settings. I knew that I wouldn’t get the information I wanted, or possibly needed, out of just the user manual that came with the camera. This “For Dummies” book is my first foray into these types of self-help books and I have been very pleasantly surprised. This book is extremely well written and is most definitely not written in a condescending way treating the reader as if that person is a child. I found this book very easy to follow and it handled very complex information in a way that can be understood and practised by the user. The numerous pictures showing step-by-step instructions make this book more easily understandable. This book gives the reader a much better understanding of features that are hard to grasp as well as features that can be easily missed. If you are an experienced user you might not get too much out of this book other than a reference guide. However, if you are new to (Digital SLR’s) like I am, then this book is an incredible tool to help you progress. Its important to note that you will not learn everything overnight because there is so much information, but in time you’ll be thrilled at what you have accomplished with the help of this book. I have had this book for three months and I find myself referring to it as a reference guide quite often and I am slowly trying new things, things that I would not have known about on my own. There are quite a few parts of this book that I have not attempted to learn because I am not proficient enough yet, but for my abilities this book has continued to be very useful.
⭐I’m taking a “beginner” photography class. The manual that came with my Rebel was written in Spanish and useless to me. The operating disc that came with the camera is in Chinese so that was also useless to me (and yes I bought the camera in the United States) so this book has been fantastic in helping me get the most out of my camera.
⭐Others have given nice, detailed reviews. I just received this book and can tell just by glancing it that I’m going to love it. I regret not buying it sooner. I’ve recently been watching online videos trying to learn more about my EOS Rebel t1i which I’ve had for a few years. I think this book will be more helpful. A friend had given me an Amazon gift card and I was waiting to use it on the perfect gift. This was the right thing to buy with it!
⭐I received a Canon T1i for Christmas – my first DSLR.Although thrilled with my gift, was a bit hesitant on how I would learn the ins and outs of DSLR photography and all of the manual settings that this camera has to offer.I’m about half way through the book (in 1 reading) and already have a much better understanding of my camera and the features it offers. As with all “for dummies” books, this is written in plain easy to understand english and makes learning a breeze.
⭐Awesome book for the beginner and semi-experienced as well
⭐Good seller
⭐Excellent book learnt lots from it still refer to it from time to time.
⭐good read very easy to fellow
⭐suffers from the same problems any guides do…the answer is never where you expect it to be!Has helped me on a few occasions, but ive found it simpler to play around wjth camera until I hit on the answer myself.
