    User’s Reviews

Reviews from Amazon users which were colected at the time this book was published on the website:

⭐I wanted to learn how to crochet. It talks about everything, says it’s for beginners. You get to page 17 which has you starting with a slip knot as your set up. Then page 18 shows hands with the correct position for holding your yarn, hook and slipknot. Then we suddenly hear the importance of a crochet kit while still on page 18 and we move right into Chapter 2 – Gauge and Garments. Chapter 2 has you measuring your gauge and seeing if you are on the right track by making a swatch. However, from slipknot to keeping track of your rows and measuring – IT FAILS TO EXPLAIN HOW TO ACTUALLY DO A CROCHET STITCH. As in, after a slipknot how does one crochet and/or make stitches of any kind to even make a row????? It does not explain in anyway how to make a stitch, how to move along or anything resembling how I might obtain the ability to, say, make a swatch. I don’t know how else to explain this ridiculousness. Now if I knew how to crochet some of the included projects look fun, perhaps. I am floored by this glaring omission in a “For Dummies” guide.

⭐I thought this would be good to help me get back into crocheting…it has been decades. but it is not for me…and I do not think its for beginners at all. the way its presented is very intimidating and confusing…maybe it should be titled…Crochet Patterns to make you feel like a dummy?

⭐Wasn’t sure if this would be a waste of money or not. Surprisingly the patterns are easy to follow. The instructions are very clear and the pictures are most helpful. Highly recommend to everyone.

⭐I am very disappointed in this book. I am a knitter but have crocheted in the past and wanted a brush up on stitches and some simple, neat patterns. This book has no neat patterns and the directions for ” how to” are hard to follow. I will try Youtube or crochet lessons at my local yarn store.

⭐Not for beginners, I was not able to learn from this book at all (would have returned it if I didn’t have to pay to return it, it will just be donated now). Better off getting a beginner stitch pattern kit from the craft store. It doesn’t show how to get from a single chain to any other stitches, not enough photos, if you learn best by reading, maybe this will work.

⭐Not a great book for beginning crocheters. It is too wordy and really has no patterns to speak of. I would not suggest buying it if you are looking for a reference type book.

⭐This isn’t quite what I was expecting. Some of the wording is hard to get around and I’ve found I had to supplement all the instructions with youtube videos and online tutorials. It’s a good reference to have laying around if you already know what you’re doing.

    ⭐too hard to understand.

⭐Disappointing – it’s an American book, so yarns and hook sizes are different from UK ones, making it difficult to follow the patterns. Also, based on the designs, it’s not clear who this book is aimed at. I’ve seen better patterns offered for free online.

⭐Absolutely useless! The implication of the title seems to be that it is about creating your own patterns for garments etc. Unfortunately it is a vast tome on how to read purchased patterns. Could have been written as a pamphlet!

⭐Disappointed overall and will be giving to charity shop. Very few photos of real work to go with instructions. Seems dated overall and not very interesting. There are better books out there

    ⭐Christmas present.

⭐Very easy and informative reading. Absolutely covers everything from beginning to end. It as received by myself well in the suggested delivery date. Very pleased all round. Thanks
