Description

A gripping and explosive thriller from internationally acclaimed forensic anthropologist and New York Times bestselling author Kathy Reichs, featuring Temperance Brennan and Detective Andrew Ryan on the trail of a modern murder and an ancient biblical mystery.

Examining a badly decomposed corpse is de rigueur for forensic anthropologist Temperance Brennan. But puzzling damage on the body of a shooting victim, an Orthodox Jewish man, suggests this is no ordinary Montreal murder. When a stranger slips Tempe a photograph of a skeleton unearthed at an archaeological site, Tempe uncovers chilling ties between the dead man and secrets long buried in the dust of Israel. Traveling there with Detective Andrew Ryan, Tempe plunges into an international mystery as old as Jesus, and centered on the controversial discovery of Christ’s tomb. Has a mastermind lured her into an elaborate hoax? If not, Tempe may be on the brink of rewriting two thousand years of history—if she can survive the foes dead set on burying her.

Reviews from Amazon users, collected at the time the book is getting published on UniedVRG. It can be related to shiping or paper quality instead of the book content:

⭐ I like the Brennan series (mostly about 3.5 stars) but this was not up to the average. Didn’t end up with a real resolution, the actions by both the antagonist & the potential antagonists seemed pointless, the suspense-building was amazingly predictable. Maybe my lack of interest in all the religions represented in the Holy Land & theoretically affected by the events came into play, but also, I completely disbelieved every bit of the crisis-manufacturing around these bones. No religion is truly affected by facts, however unwelcome; that’s not what they’re about, after all, and I don’t believe any of these characters really thought new forensic information would make a bit of difference to any of them.

⭐ I have read a number of her books and I always find that every book I have read inspires me to buy another. Reichs is so good at her real job that she has the knowledge to write the books she writes her books with first hand knowledge. Additionally, she knows all the right people, in real life, to be enable her to research other professions, which gives her the ability to make every individual in her books believable.I would encourage anyone who loves a really good read, to pick any of her books, and get involved in a real adventure!

⭐ This story is woven around a set of human remains that start off in the Middle East and in a rather round about way ends back at the start. Tempie also gets to practice some of her roots also along with her current profession.

⭐ I love Kathy Reichs’ bones books. I am currently reading Flash Bones, which is the 14th book in this series and I have enjoyed everyone of them. The author is a forensic anthropologist who really knows her stuff and gets very technical at times, but I like it. I have learned so much from her. The books all have a good mystery to solve and it’s fun to see how she keeps her head and gets out of so many perilous situations. All of these Temperance Brennen stories follow her on again, off again romance with detective Andrew Ryan. I think they are very well written and if you enjoy a good mystery, you will enjoy these books!

⭐ Never watched the TV show “Bones” which I am told was based on this author. Just ran across her listing of books while browsing thru Amazon’s titles. I reviewed her first book, and said it was “Disturbing”. I still think that. But I especially like the idea of an author actually working at what she writes about. So I downloaded all 12 of her books to my Kindle. In the last week, or so, I have read 8 of her books, and have four to go in this series. I find her mysteries good and compelling. I’ve even gotten somewhat used to reading about her cutting up dead people’s bones and sifting thru their body parts. I dont think I agree with much that was written in this book about Jesus, but it was a good and interesting read. Now on to the next 4 books.

⭐ As a minister who knows a bit about bible, archaeology, and even Orthodox Judaism, a friend suggested it to me. The premise starts interesting but the plot gets terribly strained as it advances with implausibilities and false connections so that by the end, it seems to have lost its way. That early Palestinian Christians might have been among the slain at Masada is not too shocking. The writing is tight, it moves quickly, makes a worthy presentation of specialized info, and the characters seem well defined and understood. Yet it seems like it may have been a hurried production that would have benefited greatly from more time with effective plot development.

⭐ Tempe gets to do some archeology which is another of her passions. And she gets to do it in Jerusalem, the West Bank and vicinity.

⭐ I have read her entire Temperance Brennan series and love that they are a fairly quick read as I do not have a lot of spare time. I can get through a book and not have to worry about having to sit it down for a few weeks and not remembering what all happened. Each book left me ready to read the next as this last one did…I cant wait for her to have a new book come out in this series….

⭐ It is the worse book Kathy has ever written. It’s boring, hard to keep my mind on what I’m reading. It doesn’t make a lot of sense. I would not recommend this book. A waste of my money..

⭐ I’m addicted to her books. I love that I actually learn something about the process or history or an area when I read these books. They are fiction but there is another level to them. There is a little bit of a formula in all her books but people are creatures of habit and I still really enjoy reading them. Sometimes the descriptions of things are unusually but totally spot on, clever and understandable.
