⭐Poorly written and confusing. First chapter is good, but goes downhill after. Not great for an online only class.

⭐Good book that explains security and Cryptography really well.

⭐The language in the book is syntactically correct. But the semantics are often unclear and misleading. Take p.487:”an opponent captures the login ticket” That is probably the ticket called “ticket-granting ticket” a few lines above. Or maybe the “service-granting ticket”, who knows? But there are only two kinds of tickets involved here.”reuse the ticket to spoof the TGS” No, the attacker is spoofing the legitimate user, not spoofing the TGS.This is heavy stuff, I do not need the added burden of translating from what is written, to what is really meant.

⭐Beware… missing online resource access code.When you purchase this book if may be missing the online resource access code.This creates loads of hassle and I am still trying to gain access via a customer request to the publisher.Nightmare when you have enough to do, like studying and trying to absorb the content of the book not wasting time chasing access codes and waiting to access important notes, information with the Online companion resource.Why make life so complicated! I guess the clue was in the book title! Doohh

⭐Ho comprato questo libro in inglese, poiché la ristampa italiana tardava ad arrivare.Devo dire che è scritto in un inglese molto fluido ed intuitivo, facile da capire, e le numerosissime figure aiutano la comprensione.E’ diviso in due parti: una di crittografia e una di Sicurezza nelle reti.La prima tratta dettagliatamente tutti gli algoritmi di cifratura, a partire dai primi cifrari come quello di cesare fino cifratura simmetrica e asimmetrica.Ogni algoritmo è visto nel dettaglio, molto semplice da capire grazie ai numerosi esempi e agli schemi/figure.Vengono visti anche a livello matematico, senza esagerare. Io che studio informatica non ho avuto problemi, e ho apprezzato le implementazioni in SAGE proposte nell’appendice (alcune appendici sono online, ma sarebbe servito di più averle sul libro)Poi c’è la parte di sicurezza nelle reti con hash, mac per l’autenticazione e tanto altro.Insomma, racchiude tutti i concetti cardine della materia, ottimo per iniziare.Ultimo appunto: contiene molti riferimenti a documenti ufficiali del NIST, inoltre è molto aggiornato, per cui sarete “in regola” con gli standard attuali.

⭐All’interno del libro non c’è il codice per accedere al sito companion, mentre vi sono le scritte: “Use a coin to scratch off the coating and reveal your access code”. Truffa?**** Aggiornamento 07/2018L’autore ha verificato con la casa editrice ed ha riscontrato e verificato il problema del mancato codice. Mi hanno mandato il codice via mail.

⭐Ho iniziato a sfogliare il libro con grande interesse. Scritto molto bene, un libro che sicuramente vale il suo prezzo. Purtroppo manca il codice di accesso ai contenuti online. L’articolo comunque meriterebbe le 5 stelle
