⭐This book is one of a few that develop specific applications based on the canned software Mathcad with applications close to physics and engineering. The good thing is the kind of applications to practical problems with examples of Worksheets and so on.The bad and annoying point is that the support for the book, on the web, is almost useless, at least the English part (most of it seems to be in Russian). Another drawback is the index, again not very useful, just a brief summary which do not reflect the content. This is why it is not a 5 star.Good points are that advice of numerical errors, stability, precision, and so on that are encountered on calculations when you don’t have control on these (not as in FORTRAN or C++, in cases of built in functions, like when using Odesolve. This is really important if your application goes beyond just solving smart problems at university level.I believe the book can be a good company to get acquainted with Mathcad applications at different levels in some Physics and Engineering courses. Also new versions of Mathcad will help to get better results and graphs as additional tools. The book is meant for version 11, and now 15 is available.
⭐Differential Models is a solid effort at filling a gap in the MathCAD body of knowledge. Most MathCAD texts are relatively basic in nature, geared toward the undergraduate, and are little more than how-to manuals. This text provides advanced examples on using MathCAD in complex problems. However, the narrative is rather rough in places and could have benefited from better editing, a noble effort none the less.
