Description

Revised to meet the needs of the wide range of students beginning engineering courses, the fifth edition of this text has an extended “Foundation” section including new chapters on graphs, trigonometry, and binomial series and functions. As an introductory mathematics course for students on science and engineering degrees and pre-degree courses, it is suitable for both classroom use and self study. The new CD-ROM included with the book provides stepped hints, worked solutions and immediate feedback on exercises and problems. It has a user friendly interface and intuitive design. A networkable version is also available with a channelling of student progress through to the tutor.

User’s Reviews

Reviews from Amazon users which were colected at the time this book was published on the website:

⭐This is a great book for people who need to know math, but don’t love math. I think of it as math without pain. Actually, I am a lover of math, so I read this book like most people read novels….for relaxation and recreation. It sure beats watching television.

⭐I would recommend for all maths levels. The material starts off at the most basic and leads you gently to ever more complicated aspects. At various stages there are quizzes where you can check your ability and should you need to go back over it , the book lets you know where it is . at the start of the chapters there is an optional quiz so that you know what level you are at

⭐Great condition

⭐Put very simply this book seems to have the majority of the stuff I need for my Physics course. With one notable exception, there doesn’t appear to be that much on Mechanics, so if the need arrises e.g. a projectiles question, I simply look at a little a-level revision guide for any help I need. Other than that this book has it all it starts of at the VERY basics in a chapter of fundamentals which reminds even the most forgetful person about the rules of addition and subtraction, when to use brackets etc, and goes on to Partial Frations, Basic Calculus, Complex Numbers Matricies etc, working its way up to Partial Differentiation, Differential Equations and a whole chapter on Statistics. All writen in a very straight forward way. It can be used as a refresher, or as a way to learn for the first time. When picking a book I wanted one which had everything, and this pretty much does…and at 1200+ pages, it’s quite an impressive feature on a book shelf, though not practical to carry around with you.And as for the CD it seems to be just about what I’d expect, a questions database mainly, to be used to as you go along and check everything is sinking in, nothing amazing but worth having and considering it’s free it’s a bargin.

⭐You are either about to start an engineering degree, or are on an engineering degree and have become lost in the maths. Everybody has the books out of the library. What do you do? Get Engineering Mathematics and Advanced Engineering Mathematics by Stroud! You are about to start, or are on an HNC/HND in an engineering discipline and are again lost in the maths. What do you do? Get Engineering Mathematics by Stroud! These books by Ken Stroud are in my opinion the definitive mathematics books for undergraduate and HNC/HND study alike. They strip away the rubbish, and through clear crisp step by step programmed study where you learn and interact, show you exactly how to do the maths. One reviewer stated that Laplace Transforms and Taylor Series were not in Engineering Mathematics. True! They are in Advanced Engineering Mathematics!Who am I to talk? I have an HNC, BSc, and MSc in electrical engineering, and the maths was not just learned at lectures, but in conjunction with these books. You want to learn and understand the maths, right? Then take it from me, these books will be the best course investment you ever made. GET THEM!!

⭐a very good book if you’re looking to self-teach yourself maths like me! Within each topic, it starts by explaining the very basics and includes working examples all the way through to advanced – so you can jump in wherever you feel is appropriate. hopefully by the end ill have a holistic understand of advanced maths for my course 🙂

⭐Intresting book

⭐Great book as usual from Stroud
